Rebecca Chambers is hopelessly in love.
About a month had passed since Rebecca joined the S.T.A.R.S. unit at the RPD and her revelation about Chris being cute had not left her head. It was turning into a full blown crush. He had taught her more about combat, helping her prepare for Bravo Team's inevitable trek into the Arklay Mountains, where missing persons and probable murders were becoming increasingly frequent. This was no time to get distracted, but every time Chris showed her a new move, she had to learn it twice because the first time she was too busy staring at the way Chris moved. It was like a stupid trance that he put her under every time he did anything.
Today she unfortunately didn't have time to stare at Chris. Wesker had given her so much work, and she was so confused about all of it. It was just as bad as when he had piled her with work on only her second day of work, except now that it had been a month it made even less sense as he gave her more complicated work.
After working for what felt like years, Wesker called for lunch. Usually some people left, and others remained planted at their desks, but today everyone stayed put. Rebecca sat there through lunch, desperately sifting through papers and typing on her computer to figure out what she was supposed to be doing. She sat back in her chair, leaning her head back and sighing toward the ceiling. Richard, who had just finished sending an email with an equally dramatic sigh, pushed away from his desk and stood up. He looked at Rebecca,
"Let's go get food Rebecca." She turned her head and looked at him,
"I can't. Do you see this pile of papers the captain gave me?" Richard groaned loudly,
"Come onnn." Rebecca shook her head, sitting back up and beginning to type on her computer again.
"If I want to leave before it's dark, I can't Richard." Richard nodded, patted Rebecca's shoulder.
"I'll get you something." She nodded halfheartedly and continued to type. She heard Brad talking to her left,
"Anybody need coffee?" He offered. Rebecca glanced in their direction, as Chris started to speak.
"Get one for me and Jill will you?" Jill nodded in agreement, and Chris noticed Rebecca looking,
"One for the rookie too." He smiled at her and Rebecca blushed, turning her head back to face her computer. Brad took some more coffee orders and started walking out of the office, until Chris suddenly sat up straight in his chair.
"Wait! Jill, why don't you go help Brad get the coffee??" He said, persuasion in his tone. Both Jill and Brad looked at him confused. Chris raised his eyebrows at Brad, and then Brad had a look of realization on his face.
"Oh! Uh, yeah! Jill, come along?" Jill looked at them both suspiciously.
"Need somebody to help me carry all those coffees!" Brad gave her a convincing smile, and Jill stood up anyway.
"Sure Brad." She said, following him out of the office. Chris hopped up out of his seat, peeking his head through the doorway when they left, waiting for them to turn the corner in the hallway. As soon as they were gone Chris shut the door, leaning on it and looking around the room. He also checked to make sure Wesker was securely in his office and was not going to come out anytime soon. He looked at everyone else.
"Okay everyone so-" He paused when he noticed Richard's empty chair. He sighed,
"Where the hell did Richard go?" Rebecca shyly raised her hand halfway,
