July 22nd 1998

Rebecca sat at her desk going over notes Enrico had given everyone in Bravo Team for their mission. They were to go by helicopter into the Arklay Mountains the next day in order to investigate the series of bizarre disappearances there. It's been described to her a thousand times but it still didn't seem any less weird to Rebecca. The whole thing just didn't make any sense.

Additionally, Rebecca was absolutely terrified to go on this mission. Disappearances, a creepy forest, and potential murders? Not exactly what Rebecca had in mind for a Tuesday night. Plus, she wasn't sure she was ready. Chris had taught her a lot about combat, but she had only been here a month. Her tactical skills were a little shoddy, and she was definitely still a rookie.

Rebecca would try her best though. Besides, she had Richard and the rest of the team to help her out. She wasn't on her own.

She looked around the office at the other Bravo Team members. It wasn't particularly quiet, some chattering between some team members as it got closer to lunch. Alpha team was there too, but Rebecca was really curious about how the rest of her team was doing before the mission. She didn't even know how much they had done in the past two years, but definitely more than she had.

Rebecca looked slightly to her left to see Forest leaning over his desk, studying the notes as intensely as she had been. His back was to her, but Rebecca could tell he was stressed. His tensed up shoulders said it all. This was clearly a big mission, not only for her.

Rebecca saw Kenneth looking over Enrico's shoulder, who sat at his own desk going over plans once again. Kenneth had a vaguely concerned look on his face, but he also seemed very determined. Enrico was stone cold serious as he gave Kenneth the details.

Kevin had cleared an entire wall to look at a map of the Arklay Mountains. He was acting as pilot for Bravo Team during this mission, so he was probably trying to find a good flight path.

Rebecca turned her head the opposite way, where Richard's desk was empty. He and Edward were at the latter's desk, crammed together shoulder to shoulder. They were also looking down at some papers, maybe looking at a map of the area? The air between them seemed a lot less tense. Rebecca heard Richard make a dumb joke about whatever they were looking at. She swore she heard Edward actually laugh, as he bumped his shoulder against Richard's,

"Rich." He said, his voice light with laughter. Rebecca smiled watching them. At least a couple of them weren't totally worried. The door to Wesker's office suddenly opened and Rebecca saw them jump apart from each other, Richard quickly scooting his chair back to his own desk.

As usual, everyone's heads turned to see Wesker, who began to speak in an authoritative manner,

"Alright, Bravo. To operations so we can-" He paused as he heard his cell phone ring. He pulled it out of his pocket, answering it and putting it to his ear.

"Hello?" He went silent as he listened to whoever was on the other line. He sighed audibly,

"Why didn't you call my desk phone?" More silence.

"Uh huh.." He didn't sound impressed.

"Fine." Wesker hung up and rubbed his eyes under his glasses,

"You've gotta be fucking kidding me." He murmured under his breath, but considering how quiet it was, most people heard it. Wesker looked at Enrico,

"Take Bravo to Operations and I'll meet you there."

"Is there a problem?" Enrico asked, standing up from his desk. Wesker was already walking out,
