"What are we supposed to do now? We're in the middle of murder central and have no way of getting out." Forest said first, stating the obvious. They had checked the helicopter, even if Edward was capable of getting it off the ground, the engine was completely busted. It would not be moving.
They also pulled Kevin's body from the wreckage, and Kenneth solemnly put his vest over him. Bravo Team stood looking at him for a few moments, in silence for him. Rebecca started crying again, and Richard, who was just in the same state, gently put his arm around her, rubbing her shoulder comfortingly. Shortly after, Edward checked the front of the helicopter to see if any communication devices still worked.
Everything was broken. Smashed to pieces. Edward pulled out one of the radios and put it to his mouth,
"Bravo to Alpha." He waited. No answer. He tried again,
"Alpha this is Bravo, we have a situation. Please respond." But they didn't. Edward sighed frustratedly.
"Dammit." He muttered. Their radios only used a local signal to contact each other, so they couldn't contact Alpha that way either. So they had no way of getting out of there, and no way to contact the rest of S.T.A.R.S.
Which brings us to Forests' brilliant question, to which Enrico responded,
"We need to find our way out of this forest, first off. Maybe we can find a main road, or something we can use to communicate to Alpha Team."
"But what about the-" Richard started to ask about the potential murderer, or murderers, but Enrico cut him off,
"Forget about that right now. We'll deal with it if it comes down to it." Richard grimaced, but nodded at him.
"Let's go." Everyone pulled out their weapons and started to trek in the opposite direction of the helicopter. Rebecca stayed close behind Enrico, out of fear of getting lost or killed. She paused when she barely saw something in the distance, and squinted to see it better. She grabbed Enrico by the shirt sleeve and pointed into the darkness.
"Captain!" She whispered harshly. Enrico looked at her and pointed his flashlight in the direction she was looking.
It was just as gruesome as when they saw Kevin. A huge truck that was tipped over. The windshield was smashed, and the two men who were sitting in the front seat had been thrown through it. They were covered in blood, dead. Upon further inspection it seemed they hadn't been dead for that long.
The back of the truck was wide open, and there was some suspicious gooey substance on the doors. Enrico kneeled next to the wreckage, looking closer at the bodies. Rebecca stepped around the glass shards, and saw a folder near one of the fallen men, like he had dropped it in the confusion. She made her way over to it and picked it up.
"Captain Enrico. I found something" The rest of the group had surrounded the van, watching as Rebecca handed the file to Enrico. He opened it hesitantly and started reading its contents.
"Billy Coen..." He mumbled as he read.
"What is it?" Rebecca asked. Enrico looked to everyone,
"They were transporting a criminal. A murderer. Billy Coen."
"Well obviously something went wrong." Richard stated, pointing his flashlight around some more.
"Yeah no shit." Forest added.
"You think Coen did all this?" Kenneth asked, supporting himself against a nearby tree.
"I mean, you don't see him around right?" Edward replied with a bit of an attitude. No one responded to that. Sure, Billy could've been responsible for the crash, but was he also responsible for the countless disappearances that have been going on here for months? Rebecca had doubts one person could do all that. Then again...
