When Chris woke up, his head felt heavy, and there was a burning sensation in his chest. He didn't have the strength to open his eyes, which was freaking him out a bit. He felt the hard floor underneath him, but his head was propped up on something softer. He also felt gentle strokes on his cheek that made him feel a bit calmer.

   But who...?

He finally pried one eye open to see a blurry figure above him. Was he laying on someone's lap? This was about to be seriously weird depending on who it was. What the hell happened..?

Chris tried to speak, but only a pained groan came out, which was embarrassing to say the least. He closed his eyes again attempting to clear his vision, and he heard a soft voice.

   Rebecca's soft voice.

"Chris...?" Chris swallowed, and tried to speak again. His throat felt dry,

"What... What happened..?" He mumbled, opening his eyes again. This time, the figure above him was a bit clearer. Rebecca. He knew that already, but seeing her was a relief.

"The snake's poison really did a number on you.. But I got you the serum in time." Chris realized she was practically cradling him in her lap, and still lightly stroking his cheek with the back of her hand. Chris thought he'd better get up, save his masculinity, but he didn't have the strength.

   Besides, it wasn't so bad.

"Jesus... You've saved me twice now?" He spoke tiredly, chuckling a bit. That made the burning worse in his chest. Rebecca smiled down at him,

"I'm a medic. It's my job." Chris thought about that. In this situation, he wouldn't have been surprised if Rebecca had fled. Left him to die. Sitting out here in the open with a giant snake on the other side of the door wasn't the best idea. But here she was, nursing him back to health in the middle of what could be described as a battlefield.

"Can you stand..?" She asked cautiously after a while. Chris looked at her with concern. She smiled sheepishly at him,

"How about sitting? Can you sit up?" Chris managed to do that, at least, slowly sitting up until he was next to Rebecca, against the wall. He looked at her. Her face was more red than usual. She was blushing? What for? She was staring at her lap for a while, until she made eye contact with him,

"I um.. Need to bandage up your shoulder.. You just um, were asleep and I didn't want to..." She trailed off, blushing more with every word. After she said that Chris began to notice a throbbing pain in his right shoulder. Must have been where the snake had bit him. Realization lit up Chris' face,

"Oh! Right. Of course." He quickly ditched his vest, setting it to the side of him, and grabbed the back of the neck of his shirt, pulling it off over his head. He turned a bit so Rebecca could have access to his wounded shoulder.

Rebecca was staring intently at her medpack, pulling out supplies and trying desperately not to stare at him instead. She wondered if he noticed how painfully awkward she was right now. Her face was so hot she felt like she could pass out. She couldn't stall for too long, though. So she looked back at Chris, who had placed his shirt next to his vest and was looking at her expectedly.

Just do your work Rebecca, wrap his shoulder and don't stare at him.

   She was staring.

Her hands fumbled with the bottle of cleaning solution, trying to pour some out onto a cloth to clean his shoulder with. Chris grabbed the wrist of her hand that was holding the bottle, which made her squeak. Trying to help her keep it steady? She looked up at him, making dreadful eye contact once again,
