Chapter 10

" What is it?" Lyndy asked while holding Kyler in her arms

" Since your baby was born early there are some side effects." The nurse said

" Like what?" Lyndy asked

" Well, his heart isn't fully developed yet." The nurse said

" What?" Lyndy asked as her voice began shaking

" I know, this news isn't easy, but we are going to have to take him to the nicu. Where he can be monitored better." The nurse said

The nurse took the baby.

3 hours later**

" Well, I better get going." Amy said

" How are you going to get home?" Ty asked

" Well, I am going to call a cab." Amy said

" Amy, you don't have too." Ty said

" No, I am going to." Amy said and walked out of the room

Lyndy just looked up at Ty with tears in her eyes.

" Lyndy honey what's wrong?" Ty asked

" If I wouldn't have made that stupid decision Kyler would have been fine." Lyndy said with tears rolling down her face.

" Lyndy, everything is going to be fine." Ty said

" No, it's not." Lyndy said

Ty hugged Lyndy.

The next day**

The nurse comes into the room**

" So how's my baby Kyler?" Lyndy asked

" Well, his lungs are filling up with liquid." The nurse said

Lyndy started crying.

" Does this mean he is going to not make it?" Lyndy asked

" Umm, no. Not exactly. We can do a surgery but I do have to warn you that there is a 35% chance he won't make it through the surgery." The nurse said

" I want to do the surgery." Lyndy said

" Lyndy, we have to think about it." Ty said

" Ok, I will come back in a hour. Because we have to make a decision fast." The nurse said

" Ok." Ty said 

The nurse left the room**

" Dad, we need to do the surgery." Lyndy said

" Ok, but there is a 35% chance he won't make it."  Ty said

" Yeah, but there is a 65% chance he will make it. Dad I want to take that risky route. I want to at least try." Lyndy said

" Ok, let's do it. I want little Kyler James to live." Ty said

" Ok dad." 

Lyndy called the nurse back into the room**

" Is there something I can help you with?" The nurse asked

" Yes, I would like Kyler James Borden to go through the surgery." Lyndy said

" Ok, and you know the risks this comes with right?" The nurse asked

" Yes, I do." Lyndy said

" Alrighty then." The nurse said

" Also when can I leave the hospital?" Lyndy asked

" Today actually." The nurse said

" Really?" Lyndy asked

" Really." The nurse said with a smile.

" Will I be able to still come in and see Kyler?" Lyndy asked

" Yes, after the surgery." The nurse said

" Ok." Lyndy said

The nurse left the room and Lyndy got changed into her going home clothes and packed all of her stuff up.

" Are you ready to go Lyndy?" Ty asked

Lyndy just stood there in silence.

" Lyndy?" Ty said

" Yeah?" Lyndy asked

" Are you ready to go?" Ty asked

" Yeah." Lyndy said

" Alright let's go." Ty said

Lyndy and Ty left and went back to Lily and Wade's house.

They got to the house and went inside.

" So? Where's my great-grandchild?" Lily asked

" Dad?" Lyndy asked as she looked up at him

" Mom, Wade, the baby had to go under surgery." Ty said

" Oh my gosh, what happened?" Lily asked

" Well, since he was born early his heart wasn't fully devolved. So Lyndy made the choice to put him under surgery." Ty explained 

Ty's phone started to ring**

" Hello?" Ty said 

" Hi, this is the nurse from the hospital. I have some news about Kyler."
