(~Your POV + Small Time Skip~)
Sans cries out in agony as he loses yet another round of video games, "GOOD GRIEF!! SPARE ME, Y/N!!!!" I wink and playfully stick my tongue out at him, "Not a chance. I already warned you this would happen."
Papyrus comes from the kitchen with an assortment of snacks, "Face it, brother. You suck at this. Instead of cheating or pleading, why don't you accept your defeat and be a sore loser.." "Y/N beats me every time, but we haven't seen you play. So, younger brother, I'd be careful about what you say in front of me before I absolutely crush you." Fell lashes out in a sassy comeback.
'Oh nO-'
The competitiveness sparks between the two brothers like lightning. There's an immediate pause as they glare at each other. It's terrifyingly intense. Honestly, it would probably be best for my own safety to stay as quiet and uninvolved as possible.
"Starlight, hand me the gaming controller." Edge commands without even breaking eye contact with Sans. I shudder.
Fell speaking up like that to Boss, would normally get him beat until his bones are near snapping point. So, it's kind of odd that Papyrus hasn't overreacted. In fact, it looks like he's accepted the challenge.
Instead of daydreaming for too long, I hurriedly stand up and give him the controller I've been using. "I'll um.. I'll just take these until you're done." I mutter, grabbing the snacks from him.
Fell chuckles and sits up, "Come on then, let's see what you can do." "You will fear the day you challenged The Great and Terrible Papyrus! I have exceptional skills at everything, even your sad excuse of a video game!" Papyrus says in an uproar. Then, he sits down on the couch with the ultimate posture of focus and perhaps determination.
I take a seat on the floor so as not to get involved. As soon as the game begins, both brothers are nearly beating the heck out of the controllers. The battle is tense. They are completely separated from the outside world of reality, only focused on out-besting and trash-talking each other. Believe me, I even snapped my fingers and clapped in front of their faces to check.
No effect whatsoever.
'Heh, this is going to take a while. Guess they won't be needing these.'
I open up some of the snacks Papyrus had, taking bites out of several things. There's a bunch of candy bars and also some crispy chips. He definitely isn't going to notice me eating them anytime soon if not at all.
'I'm not just going to pass up this perfect opportunity. Only bad thing is-'
My mind spoke too late. As I took another bite off a candy bar, I took a little bigger of a bite than I usually eat. That's definitely bad. For years, I limit how much I eat at at time. It stops my horrible habit from kicking in.
Well, I forgot and it happened. I bend over and cover over my mouth, letting out a harsh gag. Before I gave my body the chance to gag again, I swallowed it down.
'I forgot that happens.'
After a short coughing fit, I close my eyes and try to calm myself. My mood drops and practically, so does my appetite. I turn my head in another direction and shove the snacks to the side.
The game pauses and both brothers turn to me, very concerned.
'Ah great.... So nOw they noticed me..'
"Doll? Are ya okay?" "Starlight, are you feeling okay?" Papyrus sets his controller aside. Then, he slides himself off the couch and onto his knees so he can get closer to me. I shrug it off, not wanting to be a reason they stop spending time together, "It's alright. I just have this stupid reflex that won't let me swallow anything around a certain size. Don't worry about it, I got it under control now."
Papyrus doesn't seemed convinced, "Are you sure? You did spend a lot of time with me when I was sick.." He places a hand on my forehead to check my temperature. I pull back and whine, "Papyrus! I told you I'm fine. You guys can continue playing. I want to see who wins!"
Fell laughs a bit and jokes, "If this is about the taste, It's okay to admit you just don't like the snacks. You don't have to make an excuse. Boss and I wouldn't be offended or anything. He picks some pretty weird flavors and brands anyway." "Sans!" Papyrus turns around, fussing at him.
I raise my voice over their bickering , "There's nothing wrong with the snacks! It's something wrong with me!" The room goes quiet as their attention turns back to me. I sigh and decide to explain, "I'm not completely sure when it started, but it's like routine to me at this point. I have to eat very small bites of food at a time. Also, I have to avoid small foods like nuts, gum, or candy. I..."
I take a deep breath, continuing, "I can't tell you how many things, mostly pills, have been forced down my throat my entire life. This..." To set an example, I stick my tongue out and poke it. Instantly, my body reacts, making me tense up and gag again. Of course, it's not pretty.
Papyrus hurriedly wraps an arm around me, petting my back, "Y/N, that wasn't necessary..! You could hurt yourself-" I cut him off, "It's fine, Papyrus... This is my body, my soul even, telling me to stop mistreating it."
"That doesn't seem very pleasant. But you seem to be fine when eating normal food?" Fell chimes in, slightly confused. I smirk, "Yeah, that surprised me on the first night I was here. I suppose that's because I really enjoy Pap's lasagna."
I lean back into Papyrus' chest. He smiles and brings me closer, "We know what's for dinner then." He strokes my head before delivering a soft kiss to the side of my skull. I giggle and look up to him, "You better win this match or else Sans gets to order Grillby's instead." "HECK YEAH!" Sans cheers, renewing his motivation to win.
Papyrus looks smug and confident as he answers, "Yeah, that isn't going to happen. I will win. Then, the Great and Terrible Papyrus will use his sharpened cooking skills to make the best lasagna you ever tasted." I smirk and sit up, pressing my mouth against his in a short but sweet kiss. When I pull away, I arch an eyebrow and tell him, "Well, show me." Papyrus returned to his seat on the couch and the games resumed.
(~Small Time Skip~)
I might've given Edge a little too much help. Fell never stood a chance. Not only did Pap beat him, he had triple the scores. I felt so good but then so bad at the same time. I can imagine Sans felt even worse.
I stay close to Papyrus as he cooks dinner, close enough so that I can hug onto him but without restraining his movements. He doesn't seem to mind at all.
"We should do something for him. I think you broke his spirit." I say softly. "I was trying to do that for years. Screaming at him. Punishing him. Extra chores. Making him sleep in the shed for a few nights. I give all that up and then he breaks? Over a silly child's game." Papyrus replies, keeping his attention on prepping ingredients.
"Papyrus. Come on... Y'know it wouldn't hurt to give him something." He sighs, reaching into the fridge and grabbing a bottle of mustard, "Give him this."
'Is he serious???'
I give him an narrowed gaze, "Papyrus, I wasn't joking." "Unfortunately, neither am I. Just give it to him." He gives the bottle to me, leaving me completely puzzled.
I sigh and peek into the living room. The front door is wide open. Sans is nowhere to be seen, his jacket on the couch. If that isn't a bad sign, I don't know what is. I look around for a bit before turning back, "Uh.. Papyrus?" "Starlight. I know you don't believe me but-" I interrupt him, fear evident in my tone, "Sans is gone."
