I been calling you, Gia said while entering Norris office. How you get in here? The door, Gia said. Bitch, don't get smart. Well, the door was open. What you mean open? It was opened, Gia said. Norris got up and went in the lobby. What are you looking for? This door right here was open? Yes, Gia said. Open or unlocked? It was unlocked, what are you getting at? The door was unlocked? Yes Norris, the door was unlocked. Well it wasn't opened dumb ass. It's the same thing, Gia said. What you doing here anyway? Like I said, I been calling you. For what? I miss you, Gia said while touching Norris shirt. If I didn't answer you should have known I was busy. That's why I came by. So, what is it? Damn, I just missed you. We haven't spent time together in a while and you stopped coming around. Ok, Norris said. I guess you not really in the mood. I'm really not, Norris said. I'll just leave then. You shouldn't have stopped by anyway, Norris said.
Well, well, well! Guess we meet again, Trevor said while stepping out the closet. You didn't learn from that last ass beating I gave you? I ain't learned shit as you see. Where Veronica? You don't need to worry about her. What I need to be worried about then? Me stomping your ass out, Norris said. I'll like to see you try that playboy. I did it once before so don't doubt my abilities. How my kids doing? What, Norris said while stepping closer to Trevor. You might not want to do that, Trevor said while pointing a gun at Norris. So, this what we doing? Looks that way, Trevor said. You really thought this shit was over? You thought I was just gon let you violate me and get away with it? I know you probably ain't used to a nigga like me. I'm a nigga that don't have shit to lose. So, I don't mind catching a charge over a wack ass nigga like you. You shol doing a lot of talking, Norris said. If you bout that life, let me feel that heat playboy. Trevor didn't waste no time. He shot Norris twice in the chest. Soon as Norris body dropped, Trevor left.
What you doing, I asked my mom? Nothing, where you going? I have a doctor's appointment today. I was hoping you could watch Cori. Of course, you don't have to ask that. You doing a checkup mighty early, my mom said. Seeing how difficult my labor was and my blood pressure, my doctor wanted to check in with me. That's good, my mom said. It's kind of weird my appointment at the hospital and not at his office. What's weird about it? My appointments are always at his office. The nurse from the hospital called saying he holding his appointments at the hospital because of some renovations at his office. Aw, you might be thinking too much into this. Probably so, I said. I'll be back probably 2 hours. I was still on the fence about my appointment at the hospital. I'm hoping everything checks out fine and my blood pressure isn't an issue. With everything going on, im sure it will be.
While headed to the hospital, Connie called. Hello! Hey, how are you? I'm ok, how are you? I can't complain, how is my gorgeous grandbaby? She's amazing! When im going to see her? I can bring her over today when I left the doctor. Everything ok? Yeah, my doctor still have some concerns considering how difficult my labor was. So, he wanted me to come in for a quick check-up. Aw ok. Once I leave, we'll be over. Ok, I know Connor will be so excited to see her. She is all he talks about now. At first, you all he talked about. Now, it's all about his sweet baby. I know this isn't the right time nor my place to ask this. I just have to ask, Connie said. What? Why haven't you divorced your husband yet? It's not up to me, I said. What do you mean? He was served with papers months ago; he's refusing to sign them. I don't care what I say to him, how much I beg him, or try to level with him. He will not sign those papers. Why not? He wants to keep control over me and our marriage. That's crazy, Connie said. It is, but there is nothing I can do. Don't give in to him so easily. I don't have much of a choice, I said. I've told him plenty of times, it's no point in staying in this marriage knowing we both are unhappy. He doesn't care im unhappy, doesn't care that I don't want to stay married to him, and doesn't care that I want to move on with my life. All he care about his keeping control of me. Wow, Connie said. It seem simple to others, but it's not. With his other kids not around, he don't have nothing left to control. That's just crazy! Maybe if he knew Cori wasn't his, that might drive him to sign the papers. That won't drive him to sign the papers. That will drive him to control me even more. I made it to the hospital, I will call you later. Ok, Connie said.
I made it to the hospital and was ready to go already. I really hate hospitals, always have. Hi, I have a follow-up appointment with Dr. Walters. Doctor who? Dr. Walters, he delivered my baby here. Just have a seat and I will get somebody that might can help you, the nurse said. Ok, thank you. While waiting, I texted my mom to check on Cori. Gia, it's a woman here that says she has a follow-up appointment with a Dr. Walters. You know who she talking about? Yeah, ill take care of it.
INCOMING! 36-year-old Norris Lee gunshot wound to the chest. We were able to control the bleeding on the way here. He has to have surgery immediately, the EMT said. We'll take it from here, the doctor said. Wait, that's my husband. Step back ma'am! That is my husband! You have to tell me what happened. Get her information while we operate on him, the doctor said. Can I have your name? Gabriele Lee. You have some identification? Yes, I said while going in my purse. Now can you tell me what happened to him? Come with me this way, the officer said.
Bria, what the hell? What? What happened to him? Who? You know who im talking about. I don't know, Bria said. I saw you come in after he was brought in and you have blood on your scrub. So obviously you know something. I don't, Bria said. Cut the bullshit, I already know y'all seeing each other. What? I saw y'all at the hotel, so cut the bullshit. Bria pulled Gia in the nurse's closet. Ok, we've been seeing each other. It's nothing serious, we just having fun. So, what happened? I told you I don't know. I stopped by his office and found him on the floor. I did what I could to stop the bleeding. I didn't want to ride with him here, so I just followed them. How long you been seeing him? A few weeks, why? So, you knew who he was when his wife was here? Yeah, but I didn't know all the extra stuff he had going on.
Did you tell the police? Yeah, I told them I found him like that. How bad is it? It depends on how much blood he lost and how long was he lying there. The fact he's still alive means the bullet didn't hit his heart and it could have gone straight through. Ok, good. Why you asking so many questions? His wife is here, Gia said. Why? A follow-up after having the baby. I just wanted to know everything just in case she knows he's here or something. You know how it is sometimes here. Doctors can't update the family that often. If she sees me, I want to be able to tell her as much information as I can. That makes sense, Bria said. You might want to change just in case we bump into her. Good point, I got a backup pair of scrubs in my locker.
