If it isn't one thing, it's another. I haven't had time to sit and enjoy being a mother. Every time I turn around, something happening. Norris getting shot, finding out something could be going on with him and Bria, now Veronica. All this just becoming too much now. What happened, I asked while rushing in my mom's house. He's back, Veronica said. I know, he went after Norris too. What? Yeah, he shot Norris at his office. WHAT! He's ok, I said while rolling my eyes. Gabby! I'm just saying ma. So, this why you were running? I knew he would be back; it was only a matter of time. I don't care where or how far I go. He'll always find me. How did he find you anyway? I don't even know, Veronica said. Where are the kids? At my cousin house, he won't find them there. Veronica you have to do something. This man is going to kill you eventually. You see every time he comes after you, it's worse than the time before. You have to do something before he really hurts you or the kids. That's why I came here, Veronica said. I need the kids to stay with here. Um, excuse me!
You do know this is not Gabby's house, right? Ma! I'm just saying, she can't suggest the kids stay here when you don't even live here. I'm sorry, Veronica said. I just need my kids somewhere safe and the safest place is with you Gabby. What about Connor? He is the godfather. I just need them safe, that's all. I will call him, I said. Hey, Connor said. Are you busy? No, what's going on? Trevor found Veronica again. What? Yeah, he beat her up really bad. She's here at my mom's house. Why she's there? She came here because she wants the kids to stay with me so they will be out of harm's way. I have a lot going on right now. I figured since you are they godfather, they could stay with you. I don't mind, Connor said. I knew you wouldn't. How is Norris? Still alive and making my life a living hell. What you mean? When I left the room, he got medicine from the nurse. When I got back with the divorce papers, he balled them up. That's when he told me the nurse gave him the medicine. Damn, Connor said. He told me to leave, so I did. One of the nurses stopped me to ask how was he. I asked her why did she call me with that fake appointment at the hospital. She got off subject and ask do I know how he was found. I asked what that had to do with what I asked her. She said the nurse that gave him the medicine is the one that found him. What? Yeah, she went to his office for whatever reason and found him. She rode with him in the ambulance and everything. That had me thinking, why she was there anyway. I went back to the nurse station to get answers, but my mom called before I could. So, she knows Norris? That's what im thinking, I said. She has to if she was there and felt comfortable enough to ride with him to the hospital. Then gave him medicine when you weren't there. Yeah, that's how I looked at it too. You worrying yourself with too much, Connor said. Since you've had Cori, you've been nonstop worrying about everything that's not important. Your focus should be Cori, and Cori only. I haven't even seen her since she was born. You letting all this other stuff interfere with me being a father to my child and I don't like that Gabby. I know, im sorry. You need to remove yourself from everybody else's problems. It's causing problems for you and problems for us. Again, im sorry. I have another call, Connor said. He didn't even say bye or let me respond before he hung up. With everything that's already going on, I have to add Connor being mad on top of all of that. I just can't catch a break from any direction. What did he say, Veronica asked? He said he will call me back, he couldn't talk. I'm sorry if me coming here caused any problems. It's ok, I said. Do you have a safe place to go? I can go to my cousins with the kids. Ok, go there and ill call you when I hear back from Connor. Ok, thank you so much Gabby.
Soo, what did he really say? You were in the kitchen too long for him not to have time to talk. So what he really say, my mom said. Basically, im letting everybody else's problems become my problem and it's starting to create problems between us. I can agree with him on that, my mom said. I've told you long time ago, stop trying to save everybody in every situation. You have this little girl to think about. Veronica's 101 problems, the other chick problems, and who shot Norris; none of that is your problem. Stop making it your problem Gabby. What y'all doing, Tori said. Trying to talk some sense into your sister. Oh lord! What happened now? Really don't feel like going over it again. I'll sum it up, my mom said. Norris was shot, he still won't sign the papers, Veronica wants the kids to stay with Gabby, and all of this creating problems with her and Connor. I was telling her stop making everybody problems her problems. Well, Tori said. Well what? Say it Tori. Right now, Connor is the last person you want mad at you. Why you say that? The way I see it, he holds all the cards. Still not understanding, I said. Besides us, he the only one that knows Cori is his child. You let Norris sign the birth certificate knowing he wasn't the father. If Connor gets mad enough, he can blow all of this up. This could get way worse if it came from him instead of you, im just saying, Tori said. If I was you, I would be playing nice with him. You not helping, my mom said. Clearly she not going to tell Norris the truth. If she haven't done it in all this time, she not going to do it. So, she might as well keep Connor happy and on her side for the time being. I need to go lay down, I said. All of this shit is about to drive me crazy. I don't know how much more of this I can take seriously. Yeah, all of this can be over if I just tell Norris the truth. At the same time, all of this could be worse the second the truth leave my lips. I know soon as I say Connor is Cori's father, im dead. That's my only way out of this. I need to come up with a plan where the truth can get out and I still come out of this alive. I needed to get some fresh air and clear my mind. I instantly thought, my online group. I haven't logged on in months! I know I can get some ideas from the ladies in the group. I also know I can get that understanding and comfort from them. As you can see, I don't get that understanding from my family. As soon as I logged on, I saw Patricia logged on. Out of everybody, Patricia was the person I vibe with the most. We haven't talked in months, so I don't have her number anymore. I sent her my number again just in case she doesn't have mine anymore either. She instantly called me when I sent her my number. GABBYYYYYY! It's been forever since we talked, I said. I know right! How you been? Girl, I don't even know where to start. Before you even find where to start, let's meet. We need to catch up in person, Patricia said. We can meet at the coffee shop, I said. Cool, ill meet you there. I know you tied of me asking, can you watch Cori? You know I don't mind, my mom said. Where you going? To meet a friend, I said while grabbing my purse. What kind of friend? A woman that's apart of this online group I chat with at times. Ok, be safe.
