24 - The First to Compliment

"Are you sure you're not attending?" Tian Zi asked Jonathan. Both he and Fyre were already prepared to leave but Jonathan was still there in his T-shirt and Sweats eating milk and cereal for breakfast. It was clear he had no plan of attending the wedding even though he was one of the groom's men.

"Yes, I won't be attending without Remi because I'm positive I would just end up escorting Margarette," Jonathan replied dejectedly. He has been waiting for Remi's call since last night and this morning but she never called. This just means that his lover hasn't forgiven him yet and she still needed more time.But Jonathan does understand because his confession was so rushed. He couldn't blame Remi for this.

"If I go now, I might not be able to talk to her again, I would be sent back if my sister caught me," Jonathan added. He didn't care if Fyre would see him as a coward but he grew up with his sister and no one knew her best except him and the rest of their direct family. Marjorie had always been the most dominant in the family and even their parents would listen to her advice. Even though she's the middle child and didn't receive a title, she's the one that cared the most about the family reputation and she would do anything to keep the way it is now.

"You're really an idiot!" Fyre rolled his eyes. That very comment quickly made Jonathan's heart throb in pain but still, he accepted that he's useless. He's simply helpless when it comes against his family.

Fyre stared at Jonathan's depressed appearance. The Alpha's head is sunken down while his back is hunched. He had deep dark bags under his eyes and his face hadn't been shaven for days. Even though there was still no doubt that he's a handsome man, with his appearance now, he had lost his aristocrat deportment in an instant. Looking at all this, Fyre sighed deeply and soon walked towards his friend and flicked his fingers against the Alpha's forehead.

Jonathan was caught off guard and even though it didn't hurt, he held his forehead and looked at Fyre in confusion, clearly wondering why the Omega had done that to him.

"Trust Remi. She loves you. Yes, she's hurt right now but she's brave. One thing I really know about her is that she doesn't give up that easily. She fights in her own way and I know as long as you're with her, she will continue to fight and you should too. Even though she hasn't called you, I'm sure she'll come so don't be depressed and man up. If you aren't brave to face your sister, then just fake it. Didn't you hear the saying fake it till you make it? You're a big and strong Alpha so act like it. Don't be such a loser," Fyre encouraged despite him sounding as if mocking the Alpha half of his encouraging speech.

Meanwhile, listening to Fyre, Jonathan stared at the Omega with obvious awe. He was unable to say anything for good seconds before he finally chuckled, his cheeks slightly blushed feeling so touched at the message.

"I didn't know you have so much faith in me," Jonathan continued to chuckle before he stood up and suddenly held both of Fyre's hands. As for Tian Zi who was watching this, his brows slightly frown, however, he remained silent patiently waiting for the two.

"I honestly don't have that much so don't you dare blow it up!" Fyre warned, squinting his eyes towards the Alpha. Last night, he ended up deciding to avoid both Tian Zi and Jonathan. However, today he will put up with them one last time. Because even though he hated to admit it, he could definitely feel the affection Jonathan had for Remi. So just this time, he decided to trust the Alpha one more time because he wanted Remi to be happy. After this, he will slowly distance himself and finally let Remi pursue all her choices. And whether she will end up happy or not, he will always be there to support her. He would not interfere again since Jonathan had proven himself enough for him to believe.

"Thank you. Thank you so much," Jonathan whispered gratefully before suddenly pulling Fyre into a bear hug. Fyre was caught off guard but he didn't struggle and instead decided to let it pass and hugged the Alpha back.
