148 - Devising the Plan

"What do you mean Fyre's in danger?" Laura asked in worry as she felt like fainting. She didn't know why but she wondered why whenever there was someone who was about to marry into their family or a new member was about to be born, they'd always have to undergo something dangerous. It happened to Daniel and Ian and now to Fyre. She thought her youngest son's marriage would go on smoothly after the announcement but now this was happening. It's becoming more frustrating. When can they hold a wedding without any danger?

"Yeah, Mom. Apparently, someone couldn't accept that Fyre chose your handsome son to be his husband so they took him away. Now, we're going to take him back before that handsome son of yours becomes crazy," Hanlu explained as he prepared to leave for the Mo headquarters and do more preparations for the rescue mission. Honestly, if not because they had to let the two know personally, he would have gone there with his wife.

"What?" Laura frowned. Even though Hanlu's explanation was quite summarized and easy to understand, she was still confused simply because this all just suddenly happened. She and her husband tried so hard not to get themselves involved in their son's relationship this time but in the end, she didn't like that they were always clueless about the things that had been happening.

"What are you talking about? Where is Xiao Zi? I need him to explain this to me," Laura insisted but Hanlu just shook his head. He's aware that his old mother is worried but it's better for her to know less because she's no longer strong and healthy enough to hear such frustrating news. It will only make her worry more and worse, this could cause her health to depreciate which will not be favorable so it's better to not tell her everything that is happening directly. It's what all of them decided since they are worried for her.

"Xiao Zi's already at the headquarters, we'll be back late so don't wait for us. Don't worry about Daniel and Ian so have dinner with the kids first. We'll explain when we get back," Hanlu said in assurance, making Laura even more worried that she quickly looked at Chendong for support. However, understanding the situation better than anyone, Chendong helplessly sighed and slowly approached his wife before putting his hands over her shoulders and caressing them softly.

"Honey, let us continue to trust our sons. I'm sure they'll tell us everything when they're ready. For now, let us listen and wait for that time, I'm sure they have their own reason," Chendong calmly said. When he was still active in running the family's secret organization, there were also a lot of things that he couldn't tell his wife and children back then especially when things were dangerous so he understood his son's dilemma. Furthermore, if his wife were to hear the reasons why their children are acting this way, it might not be good for her health so he had no choice but to side with Hanlu this time.

"But Honey, they've been keeping us in the dark for a while now. I don't believe this just happened now. Ever since we decided to stay out of our children's business, it has been becoming difficult to know things about them. Has this not been bothering you at all!?" Laura complained, frowning at her husband. It rarely happens because she and her husband get along very well so her frowning at Chendong means that she was really upset at the situation. Now she could understand why Gabriel became very upset when he couldn't know a single thing about the problem his family was facing because everyone was purposely keeping him in the dark

It truly is frustrating. You know there is something wrong but people just purposely keep things from you. She is not used to this kind of treatment and she now regrets ever deciding to let Tian Zi handle his life years ago.

"But Xiao Luu, I will make you take responsibility if anything were to happen to any of you. You won't like it if you were to make me angry, my dear son," Chendong added as he faced Hanlu with a serious expression. At least this way, his wife wouldn't be too upset. Seeing this, Hanlu was taken aback since when this happens, it usually means that his father won't ever let him go if he breaks the said promise. After all, among all of them, their father was the most merciless. Even towards his son, Hanlu could already imagine the painful and troublesome things his father would make him do while calling it his punishment.
