I'm a complex guy sweetheart

We were walking farther into the jungle when someone started following us. It was the one and only Sawyer, great. Kate looked up at him, "You decided to join us?" He spoke without even looking at her. "I'm a complex guy, sweetheart".

Kate stopped and I got next to her, we exchanged looks like the kind only women share. The both of us knew it was going to now be an even longer hike. We walked through heavy jungle when we started to climb. It was harder than it seemed.

I was struggling when I saw a hand reaching down to help me, I looked up and Sawyer was trying help it seemed. "Cmon blondie, can't hold a grudge forever". I took his hand while he pulled me up and he was strong. We had gotten to the top faster then anyone.

On the final part of the hill, Sawyer pulled my hand harder in which I got pulled up quite fast and landed on top of him. He looked up at me with our faces inches apart, "Aren't ya married?". In order to get up I step on part of his leg and chest to rub it in.

I helped Kate up and she saw Sawyer on the ground and rolled her eyes, "I know". She turned back to me, shaking her head. We continued to help the others get up while Sawyer recovered.

We continued to walk through the jungle, with tall grass and endless palm trees in silence when Sawyer spoke up, "A nice, wide open space, why don't we try the transceiver here?". Sayid spoke first "We're not going to have reception here". They continued to bicker, which I just tried to tune out.

Sawyer began to yell, "JUST CHECK". Sayid turned back and he was angry. "IF I JUST CHE". He was cut off by a sound in the grass. A strange one like an animal rather then just harsh wind.

There was more of the rustling and Shannon spoke. "Oh, my god". Boone looked back, "Somethings coming!". The sound got louder and Charlie replied to Boone, "it's coming towards us!".  I looked at Kate when the snarls got closer. "Cmon guys let's go!". Everyone started moving but I stayed.

I wanted to see what this thing was and I wasn't the only one. Next to me once again was Sawyer. We looked at each other and I raised an eyebrow, turning back to the noise. I turned back to Sawyer and saw him pull out a gun.
I looked at it to see if it had the blue stripes, it didn't. I thought it maybe was the Marshall's gun.

The sounds got closer and Sawyer proceeded to lift up the gun and start shooting. I wasn't alarmed by the shooting, I was used to it after all but I hoped Sawyer was able to kill whatever it was. The thing jumped out that the last second.

I saw Sawyer back up and place his arm in front of me for protection, I didn't need it but it was cute. He lowered his gun with his hand still out towards me and we watched it die. Everyone else made their way back to us.

Shannon looked at the animal which looked like a bear. "That's, that's a big bear". Boone spoke next, "do you think that's what killed the pilot. Charlie turned to him and replied. "No, no that's a tiny little bit compared to what killed the pilot.

I watched Kate slowly go down to the bears level. She turned back to me and I just shrugged. Kate started to speak. "Guys, this isn't just a bear, it's a polar bear".
