I ran thought the halls of the hospital. "Watch out, coming through!". I got to the outside of the hospital to find a little girl on a stretcher from an ambulance.

"What happened?". I turned to the paramedics, he responded. "Girl, 11 years old, hit by a car on her way home from school, unresponsive, broken spine". I ran with her stretcher and wheeled into the hospital. "Dr. Burke!". I looked at Juliet. "Juliet! Page Dr. Shepherd, and get a surgery room open". She turned to me, I got it and only Christians available". I looked at her. "It doesn't matter it's ok".

I wheeled the girl into the OR and Juliet ran to prep a room. I got ready for surgery when Dr. Shepherd walked in. "Afternoon, Katherine". I turned back to Christian. "Afternoon Christian, you ok for this surgery?". I walked over to him with a sheet with her info in my hand.

"11, little girl, hit by a car, broken spine." He looked up at me, and spoke. "Ok let's get to it". I was an OR nurse, so I could do surgery's and I was able to be with people but then again it didn't chose it.

The surgery lasted 6 hours, it was a long one and quite a gruesome one might I add but the girl made it, I walked out of the OR. I started walking to the locker room. I got changed it was 8 pm I think. I was tired but nothing a drink couldn't fix.

I was putting on my top when I heard the door open, I pulled on my shirt faster just in case and when I looked up it was just Juliet. She was leaning on one of the lockers holding up 2 tickets to something.

She walked over to me and sat on the bench next to me. "So I found these two tickets randomly in my car, to this really awesome karaoke bar in town and I know you love a good drink". I looked up at her and smiled. "Absolutely!". She walked out of the locker room. "Meet me at the level 4 vending machines".

I got changed and about 5 minutes later, I started walking to the vending machine where Juliet told me to meet her. I was walking when I bumped into a man and fell down. "Oh I'm so sorry". He helped me up and I looked at his scrubs. "Well thank you Dr. Shepherd". He smiled and walked away.

This is wasn't Christian but I think it was his son, Jack. I walked to the vending machine and saw Juliet sitting on one of the sofas, she got up once I entered the room. She walked over to me and I linked my arm with hers and we walked to the parking lot.

I took the bus today and most days to so we walked to Juliets car. We got in the car started to drive to the bar. Juliet turned to me and smiled. Juliet was my best friend and I was hers. And the think was I happy to be her friend not like I was happy to be married to Mike.

"So did the fancy program with the eye who wore a lot of eyeliner get back to you yet?". Juliet laughed, she had been practically scouted by this prestigious company because of her fertility research. "He didn't wear eyeliner, it looked like it but he didn't and no they haven't contacted me in a bit".

I turned to her. "Oh Jules, you know they'll get back to you and then you'll be a super rich, fancy CEO doctor". Juliet laughed. She always had a good time together. "So how are you and Mike doing? Because I still don't know what you see in him".

I turned to her. "Please he's a cop, a man in uniform Jules, get on my level". I looked at her. "Maybe, at this bar, you'll find someone". I winked at her and she laughed just as we pulled up to the bar.

I still couldn't help the feeling that I shouldn't be having this much fun and a friend like Juliet.

When being her friend wasn't my primary objective.
