It's quite up here

After my confrontation with Sawyer I went back to my little spot on part of the plane. I had been sitting there just looking out into the ocean. I heard someone walking at the bottom. This spot was hard to find but somehow I found it and then someone else had too. "Hey Nurse Ray!" I looked down to see it was Walt.

I smiled down at him. "Hey Kiddo!". He looked up at how high I was. "What are you doing up there?". I looked down at him. "Hiding". He looked up at me, "Hiding from what?". I looked at him, I didn't really know what I was hiding from. "I don't now". He looked at the wire. "Can I come up?". I looked down at him.

"Sure!". I helped him up with the wire, I grabbed his hand when got close enough to me. I pulled him up and turned him around so that he was sitting next to me. He looked at the water. "It's pretty up here". I looked at him. The sun was setting, it was calm, peaceful up here. "Ya, ya it is".

He looked at me. "How come you don't tell anyone about this?". I looked back at him. "well it's more peaceful when it's not crowded, people aren't taking shifts to be up here, it's just you, maybe someone else and the ocean".

Walt yawned before speaking. "Well then I'll keep it a secret, and only we can know!". I looked at him and smiled. I put out my pinky in which he linked it with his. "Pinky promise?". He looked at me and responded happily. "Pinky promise". I smiled and laughed. He turned back to me after about a minute. "Can I tell Vincent?". I could tell he was asking in a serious manner but I couldn't help but let out a small laugh.

"Yes, you can tell Vincent". He looked out to the sunset and yawned. He leaned his head against my shoulder and started to fall asleep about 10 minutes later, he was fully asleep. I carried him on over my shoulder and slowly and carefully got down from the part of the plane.

I was carrying Walt on my hip, he was a short kid so it was easy enough. I got to him and Michaels tent. "Oh there he is!" Michael smiled then soon realized he was asleep. He looked at me. "sorry!" He whispered and I let out a quite laugh. I went to go find Jack after I walked away from Michaels tent.

I found him sitting by the ocean. I came and sat down next to him. I handed him some water. I found out Boone was the one who took the water but I was too tired to go take it up with him. Jack smiled slightly after I gave him the water. "So where we're you today Jack?". He looked at the fire in front of us. He sighed before speaking. "Just had to take care of a few things". I smiled and look down before speaking.

"That's all I'm going to get, huh?" He hesitated before speaking. "My father died, in Sydney." I looked at him. "I'm sorry". He looked down. "Yeah". He turned back and smiled at me. "I'm sorry too". I showed a small look of confusion on my face. "I thought I was seeing him in the jungle but it really was just hallucinations". I looked at him with a small smile. I sighed before speaking again.

"You know when my sister died, I saw her everyday. For years until I almost accepted it. I'm still not over it but I'm ok now". I looked at him. "It'll be hard but you'll be ok too." I placed my hand on his cheek and smiled. He looked at me and I looked back. He started to lean in and I did too.

And like that our faces were inches apart and then, we kissed. It was sweet, simple but it meant so much to me. I looked at him and smiled. I turned to face the ocean. I rested my head against his shoulder and looked out to the ocean.

Once again I thought to myself, maybe this island wasn't the worst thing ever.
