One thing I learned in being friends with Kuroo Tetsurō was once you agree to do something with him, he will make sure you follow through. After school ended, I had my bag and gym clothes on my and headed to the exit when a hand grabbed the back of my shirt.

"Oh no you don't," Kuroo stopped me and I was helpless from escaping.

"Kuroo," I pouted as he pulled me through the school hallways to the gym.

"Somehow I knew you would try and get out of it," Kuroo theorized, "Though you are getting more clever in your evasion."

"I learned from Kenma," I tell him.

Kenma in his first year didn't train as much as the other boys on the team. Occasionally he would try to skip while they were doing drills. Kuroo always made sure Kenma showed up eventually. I guess I shouldn't be surprised the same thing would happen with me.

He opened the gym doors and I saw the other members of the team.

"Ayame-san," Yaku was the first to greet me.

"Yaku," I gave a nod to the libero.

According to Kuroo, back in his first year, him and yaku butted heads more often than not. It was only when they expressed their shared dream in going to Nationals that they put their differences aside. They still took the time to taunt each other whenever they could.

I watched their games in first year and was amazed by his talent. He made epic receives that turned the tide in a game. The team had only gotten stronger since they joined. Yaku even gave me some pointers when I tagged along for Kuroo's training in first year.

"Ayame!" Yamamoto swooned and started running towards me with arms wide open.

Startled, I quickly used Kuroo as my shield. Kuroo gave the second year a dark look and Yamamoto stopped dead in his tracks. Yaku and the other boys snickered under their breath.

"Yamamoto," Kuroo said sternly, "What have we talked about in greeting Ayame?"

Yamamoto's face went white as he recited a previous discussion, "Don't charge at Ayame or you might run her over."

Kuroo had a teasing gleam in his eye, "If you are so pumped, then you would not mind me adding to your training, would you?"

Yamamoto gulped and I stepped from behind Kuroo. I gave Yamamoto a soft smile, "Kuroo, you're scaring him."

Tears flooded down Yamamoto's eyes, "Ayame-san, you're too kind."

I retreated my hand and made a face at the overly emotional second year. I looked to the new faces and saw a boy taller than myself. He had light brown hair and an excited look on his face, "I am Inuoka Sō and I am in first year. It is nice to meet you."

"Pleasure to meet you," I replied, "My name is Ayame."

"Ayame-senpai," Inuoka smiled.

"You don't have to be so formal," I insisted, "Ayame is fine."

"Okay, then Ayame," Inuoka smiled.

The team coaches, Yasufumi Nekomata and Manabu Naoi came in wearing their red track suit.

"Miss Ayame, good for you to join us on this trip," Nekomata said to me.

In first year, the older coach had taken a liking. He even allowed me to practice with the team after seeing my skills as a player. In the absence of my parents, he looked out for me and checked in with my academics from time to time.

I shook his hand respectfully, "Thank you for allowing me to join."

"Of course," the coach replied, "Kuroo handed in your signed form already so you are all set. We will of course need you to keep score since we do not have a team manager."
