Similar to the Fukurōdani Training Camp, Karasuno completed the most penalties. They ran up in the summer heat.
"Everyone," The team manager for Ubugawa, Eri Miyanoshita, announced, "The parents from Shinzen High gave us some watermelons!"
Flanking her were Fukurōdani's managers Yukie Shirofuku and Kaori Suzumeda. Each held a plate of watermelon. Everyone took a break outside. I assisted in handing out the watermelon slices to the boys.
"Arigato," one of the Shinzen players said as they took one from my plate.
"Your welcome," I smiled kindly.
A group of guys swooned at my tone.
"How come you aren't playing?" One of the asked me, "If I recall correctly, you were the amazing female libero from Nekoma."
"I'm just here to help out," I replied, "Though that is awfully kind of you to say."
"Ayame," The Shinzen manager, Mak Ōtaki, walked up to me, "I can take the tray."
I nodded my head and excused myself from the crowd of boys. I saw Kuroo talking with the Karasuno third years about the incident with Tsukishima. I was going to join them when Bokutō jumped in front of me, "Ayame!"
I jumped slightly and looked at the owled face captain, "Bokutō, is everything alright?"
He held out a slice of watermelon, "You didn't have one yet right?"
I accepted it and took a bit. It was sweet. I moaned in satisfaction, "It's so ripe."
"How are you enjoying training camp?" Bokutō asked me.
"It's pretty fun," I confessed, "Minus the penalties you made my team do."
Bokutō laughed at my remark, "Hey, hey hey, that just means you're getting stronger."
"I guess that's right."
"Hey," Sugawara called out to everyone, "We're about to start."
We won the next set against Karasuno who went to run up the hill as the sun set. I was in the gym practicing with Kuroo, Bokutō and Akaashi when Tsukishimia appeared.
"Oh?" Akaashi said.
"What's this?" Bokutō wondered.
"What's this? What's this?" Kuroo provoked.
"There's something I'd like to ask you," Tsukishima asked the three boys, "May I?"
"Sure!"
"Thank you very much. Both of your schools are sometimes considered powerhouse schools, right?"
I say them make faces as if the answer was obvious, "Well, yeah," Kuroo said.
"Even if you were able to make it to Nationals, actually winning there would be difficult, right?"
"But not impossible"! Bokutō fired back.
"Now, now, let's hear him out," Akaashi told the spiker, "This is just a what-if."
"Akaashi's right," I stood beside Kuroo.
"I am genuinely curious about this. Why do you get so desperate to do all of this? Volleyball is just a club, and maybe you'll get to write, 'I worked really hard in my club in high school,' on your resume, right?"
"Just a club?" Boktuō voice went deeper as his eyes flashed dangeorusly, "That almost sounds like someone's name."
"Oh, like Mary Club?" Kuroo gawked at him.
"No wait, I guess it was 'just some club'." The Fukurōdani captain let out, "Aw, man! So it doesn't sound like someone's name. Man, I was so close!"
"Damn it!"
