The two teams had lined up and the first thing I noticed was the orange haired boy I saw earlier when looking for Kenma. It was Hinata. He was a part of the boys volleyball team. Based on his size, I took him as a libero or defense specialist.
"Kenma!" I saw Hinata running over to him, "Y-y-you're on the Nekoma team?"
"Uh, yeah."
"Why didn't you tell me?" Hinata asked him.
"You never asked," Kenma told him.
"But you said 'see you later!' You must've known something," Hinata tried to reason.
"The words 'Karasuno High School' were on your t-shirt," Kenma pointed out.
"Hey, hey, hey!" Yamamoto approached the pair, "What business do you have with our setter?"
I watched as Hinata squeal in fear.
"Hey..." Kenma came to Hinata's defense.
"I-I'm sorry," Hinata trembled andthat when I knew he was only a first year.
Just as I was about tell Yamamoto to knock it off, another boy on the Karasuno team said back, "What about you? What business do you have with our first year? Eh?"
"What's it to you? Eh?" Yamamoto had a stand off against the other player.
"You wanna rumble, city boy? Eh?" The other boy challenged.
Those two could be mistaken for brothers, I thought to myself.
"You are about to rumble in the game we're about to play," the grey haired player from Karasuno told him calmly, "And stop saying 'city boy'. It's embarrassing."
"Yamamoto, stop picking fights all the time," Yaku scolded the second year, "It makes you look stupid."
"I apologize on behalf of my embarrassing idiot," Yaku apologized.
"I apologize for mine as well," the grey haired boy said, "I'm very embarrassed."
I briefly glimpsed over at Yamamoto and the other boy who were both standing in shame. I watched Yamamoto react to a beautiful girl walking over to me.
"Female manager, good!" Yamamoto blushed.
"Right on!" Yūki Shibayama, our first year libero cheered alongside Inuoka, "They have a female manager. Yakisoba bun score!"
"You'll pay for this!" Yamamoto cried out dramatically.
"Hey, Taketora, stand your ground!" Inuoka told the mohawk wearing boy.
I finally turned my attention to the female manager in front of me.
"Hello there," I bowed politely, "It is nice to meet you."
"My name is Kiyoko Shimizu," Kiyoko introduced herself, "I am the Karasuno team manager."
"It's nice to meet you, Kiyoko," I say nervously, "I'm Ayame Kokoro."
"You're not the team manager?" She asked surprised.
I shook my head, "No, however I'm here to help them out. My friend wanted me here."
Her eyes went to a keychain on the zipper of my bag, "You were in track and field?"
My eyes went to my bag where the keychain I had bought while supporting some of the third years at Nationals, "Oh, last year I was. This year, I decided to take a break. My heart wasn't in the sport and I deemed that more important than doing well."
"Of course," Kiyoko agreed, "May I ask what events you did?"
She had a calming presence and was so beautiful. I found it hard not to just stare at her.
