There I stood in the gymnasium after witnessing an impressive fast attack from Hinata of Karasuno, the short orange haired boy. Where had he come from? My team was strategizing during their timeout while I observed. As the coach noted, his eyes were closed leading me to believe that the brains behind the attack came from their setter, Kageyama. An individual with such pinpoint precision was dangerous on a court.

Like all things that come in pairs, if you took out one, the rest would follow.

"Ayame," I heard Coach Nekomata say to me, "We'll have one of our players keep score. I want you to watch it."

I nodded my head and sat on the bench. My eyes were on the game observing the players on both teams. The game resumed and the score was 11:15 Karasuno. Inuoka failed to receive Hinata's spike and let out a frustrated groan.

"Shake it off!" Yamamoto told the first year, "You almost had it."

Hinata went for another fast attack and Inuoka was able to grace his fingers on the ball enough to slow the momentum. I cheered at the scoreboard. Hinata went to block Kenma, "It's a fast attack."

Instead, Kenma did a setter dump. In the next rally, Tanaka received the ball and Noya was in charge of setting it. Kageyama raised an arm into the air to call for a toss. I watched as their setter spiked it into our side of the court. A shudder flowed throughout my body. Not only did he have strong control with his tosses, but he had the capabilities of being a wing spiker if he so desired. He turned to face Hinata with a pointed finger.

"You go straight along the side line. You need to learn to choose your hits!"

He was lecturing his teammate, I thought puzzled, There must be some sort of rivalry between them.

The game continued and Kenma managed to outsmart their blocker who I later found out was a first year named Tsukkishima. After knowing Kenma for so long, I could clue in on his thought process. This game to him was like a level in his video game. He was always thinking of ways to outsmart this boss that was Hinata Shoyō.

"We are plasma. Keep the flow in motion. Distribute the oxygen. So the brain can run smoothly!"

Kuroo's pregame talk with the boys replayed in my mind as I watched them play. The team was what gave Kenma, our brain and heart, strength. Kenma tossed the ball to Kuroo who landed a spike that Noya couldn't receive. It was one I had received so many times before when we would practice after club hours.

Our team seemed to be adapting to the quick attack from Hinata. Soon we were at set point. Karasuno went for another fast attack with Inuoka managing to block it entirely with his hand. The Karasuno team were in shock as Hinata's attack bounced back to them.

"Alright," I cheered.

"I finally caught you!" Inuoka said, victoriously.

The second set started with Hinata desperately trying to get past Inouka only to be unsuccessful. I admired his persistence and determination. However, the look in Hinata's eyes was anything but defeated I caught kenma's eyes widening at the boy's spirit. He smiled.

"It's different somehow," Hinata said, "It's not the same as back when I felt so confused, because I couldn't see the other side past the blockers and didn't know what to do. It's different somehow. I can tell that my opponent is having trouble keeping up with me. Until now, I felt fear and hate when I was blocked. Now, I get excited when he shows up in front of me. With your tosses and some kind of scheme, I think I can get it past him. So please give me one more toss!"

"That goes without saying," Kageyama told Hinata.

This time, Hinata went to spike the ball and unlike everytime before, his eyes were open. This came as a shock to his team mates as well. The ball flew past his hand and landed on the ground. The Karasuno coach called a hasty time out.
