The past
Kajsa and Sif's swords clanked together with every grunt that escapes their lips. Despite it merely being practice, the two women fought as if their lives were on the line, and Asgard was on the brink of disaster.
Kajsa blocked Sif's attack with her shield, kicking the brunette to the ground. Impressed at how easily she wielded her brand new sword, she circled Sif, smirking.
Ashrune is what she named it.
Heimdall had recently given it to her for her birthday. Like Sif, she was finally old enough to train and join the fight to protect Asgard with the best of them. Until her time as a watchman, she'd be on the battlefield when necessary.
"Well, aren't you on fire today," Sif stood to her feet. She tightened her ponytail, determined to take Kajsa down.
Though it was all in good fun, she'd felt stressed about her title as a warrior. It was rare for Asgardian women to join in the battle. Many men weren't fond of the idea and had no problem voicing their chauvinistic opinions.
Kajsa received a lot more grace because of who her father was, while Sif got much heat. As much as she tried to ignore it, Kajsa knew it weighed on her friend heavily.
"Why don't we take a break?" she suggests, wiping the sweat from her brow. "You look tired."
"I'm fine," Sif insists, standing in a fighting position.
"Sif -"
"One more round!" she barked in frustration.
Kajsa looks at her worriedly.
"Please," her voice softens, desperation beaming in her eyes.
"All right," Kaja tightens her shield around her arm as they begin circling each other.
Sif attacked first, resuming the clanking of their swords.
"Will you intend the party at the castle tonight?" panted Sif, sending her sword slicing towards Kajsa's head.
Kajsa ducks just in time, going for her legs.
Sif jumps, shoving her back with her shield.
"I hadn't planned on it," Kajsa cleared her throat, finding herself a bit riled up.
King Odin was in one of his good moods and called for a jamboree.
"Well, why not?" Sif grips her shield tighter, trying to gauge Kajsa's next attack. "Loki will be there," she turned her nose up.
Kajsa held in a sigh. She ended up confessing their relationship to Sif not too long after they started dating. It was hard to keep it from her when they were so close.
Though Sif wasn't fond of Loki, she cared about Kajsa, kept her secret, and tried not to complain. Even after Loki pulled a prank on her one time, cutting half her hair off.
They attack each other at the same time, their swords crashing into one another. Staring into each other's eyes, they fought against each other's strength.
"I think I'll pass," Kajsa heaved. "I'm not really in a party mood."
"I'll be there," Sif greeted her teeth.
"Yeah, for Thor," Kajsa's words made her loosen up.
"I am n -"
Shoving the brunette on her back, Kajsa kicked her sword from her hand, pointing Ashrune at her chest.
"Was that a lie, I hear?"
Sif seethed, pushing the blade away from her. She stands up. "I don't know what you've heard, but -"
