Julia and Jordan were 15 now and we're heading toward their 3rd reaping their name is in one more time than the last year so there probability had gone up. They walked next to each other through the lines. The town hall was a big building with white pillars and broken windows but somehow still looked elegant and put together. They pricked their fingers and hugged as they were separated into boys and girls the nerves they both felt raised and raised as the minutes turned to an hour. They got situated and watched the stupid video about how the capital is our savior and how we should thank them for how they have saved the capital from the rebellion. When the video ended the reaper walked up. The reapers name was Budea Chills she was constantly in weird colors such as bright yellow lavender or maroon. She had insane makeup that was pasty white with orange eyes. She was tall and had on like 4 inch heels that added to here towering height.
"Welcome welcome it's an exciting day for all of you we are celebrating the 68th annual hunger games." She said with a smile while everyone else looked dead inside. "It's time to pick a brave tribute to represent your wonderful district, as the usual ladies first." Budea said as she walked over to the huge round glass bowl that had all the names in for the reaping. Jordan crossed his finger that it wouldn't be Julia as she pulled the paper out.
"The female tribute for the 68th hunger games is"  there was a pause "Sarah Baker." Jordan let out a sigh of relief they had made it through another reaping. There were twice as many men in district 7 than women so his odds were way better than Julia's. Sarah was a short brown haired girl. She resembled a lot of his father. She was skinny but looked intimidating for some reason. She took a while to get up to the stage.
"Now for the boys." Budea walked over to her left where all the boys names were in a identical bowl. She pulled out a tiny slip of paper and walked back to the microphone. "The male tribute for the 68th hunger games is." The pause was longer than the last or at least it felt that way. "Jordan Curse." His heart sank. He was frozen in place for a moment and felt all eyes turn to him. He couldn't move and just stood as the crowd parted around him revealing him to Budea who set her eyes on him.
"Jordan come on up." Budea said delightedly. Jordan slowly made his way to the stairs and started up them. He knew his family wouldn't volunteer they all needed each other and Jordan was the youngest boy so he would be the least help to them. As he reached the top of the stairs he looked down to see Julia and the rest of his family terrified. Jordan couldn't remember what happened next but he ended up in a room in the town hall waiting for what felt like forever. He examined the couches and chairs round the room and the large grandfather clock in the center of the wall between two broken in windows. He felt hot tears slowly moving down his face. There was no way that he would win the games. He had only ever used an axe and throwing knives occasionally which was one of the rare weapons in the cornucopia and he was younger than most who get reaped. The door burst open and Julia collapsed onto him crying and begging him not to go.
"Please don't let them take you please." She said holding him tighter than ever. "It's not fair you don't deserve this." Julia cried into his arm. She dried her tears and looked him in the eyes "why are they doing this to you?" At that moment the rest of his siblings and his father entered. Blake hugged him tight and ruffled his hair. "You've got this I always said you had a talent, my bet is on you." He said but you could hear the sadness in his voice. Linden and Georgia both hugged him on either side. Jordan lost it at that point they were the motherly figures in his life and he didn't want to go. He would leave everyone of his family members. He didn't want them to feel the loss again of someone dying or being taken from them.
"I'm sorry." Jordan said as he hugged them.
"Sorry for what? It's not like you're going by choice." Georgia said as she disconnected. Linden hugged him long and whispered.
"Remember everything you get taught about survival and train your body to its limit. You can do this." She  was shivering, clearly trying to hold it together for him. She didn't let go after she was done talking she just held him as they cried into each other's shoulders. Jared and Andrew didn't say anything they just pulled him into a hug. They didn't cry they were too tough for that sappy stuff. As he hugged his oldest brother Jared. Jordan found himself saying the first things he thought since the reaping.
"I'm scared , I'm really scared." Jared hugged him tighter and rubbed his back. "Everything's gonna be alright you'll be fine." He let go and they group hugged around him in silence before peacekeepers started pulling his family out. He pulled Julia in for another hug. "I love you so much." He said to her. "I love you more" She place a little golden bracelet into his hand. A peacekeeper grabbed her as Jordan fully grabbed the bracelet.. "Get off me, they can't take you from me, let go." She screamed as she was dragged out. Blake was left alone and sat there in silence as he digested what was happening to him. He could do this, he said to himself over and over as he got more and more scared of what will happen to him.
I can survive, he thought out loud as the door swung open again revealing Budea to escort us to the train. Sarah was his age and they went to the same classes together. They exited the town hall in silence and got in a jeep that started driving away from his home. I'll never see this again he said in his thoughts as it fell out of his sight. Sarah had a stern look and my god it looked intimidating. The ride ended at a train station with the nicest cleanest train Jordan had ever seen parked snugly inside. They exited the jeep and entered the station.
