Jordan woke up in a white light that blinded him. Slowly his eyes adjusted to reveal a large hospital room. He looked and saw bandages on his wrist where the knife had been impaled by Juniper. He could feel his fingers and could move them but his wrist was still immobile. He could not feel the pain of his injuries anymore due to the drugs being injected in his system he looked around and was shocked to see no one was in his room. He looked at the tables around him and saw there was a surgical scalpel and multiple syringes full of drugs.
Jordan sat up and hung his feet over the edge of the hospital bed. He reached over to the table on his right and grabbed the scalpel. Jordan then went to stand but when he put his weight on his legs he collapsed. He fell to the ground knocking over the table that used to hold the scalpel. His leg was searing in pain and he saw bandage around his leg that was cut open. He knew the sound would attract people to his room. He went to stand again and this time put more weight on the leg that was not sliced open in the games. He slowly walked to the door and opened it.
Jordan held up the knife in his hand ready to attack anyone that rounded the corner. He looked down the hall both ways and saw an old woman walking toward his room. Jordan instinctively threw the knife but due to the drugs he was on he missed by a long shot. The doctor quickly ran the other direction. Little did he know she was getting the guards to calm him down. He was blinded by rage and was terrified for his life as if he was still in the games. As the doors opened 4 peacekeepers rushed into the room. Instead of having a gun or taser they were unarmed but they were very heavily armored to protect from him. He quickly rushed over to the syringes and grabbed one. He then charged one of the peacekeepers and tried to jab the peacekeeper in the neck. As the syringe made contact with the peacekeepers neck it bent. Jordan was then pushed back onto the ground. He tried to get up and try again but he saw a familiar face walking through the 4 peacekeepers. Blight was holding his hands up as he walked near Jordan. Jordan looked at him for a minute then stood up and hugged Blight tight.
"It's ok." Blight said as he squeezed Jordan back.
"I made it." Jordan said as he pulled out of the hug.
"You did you get to go home." Blight said as he opened the door and led him down the hall where the incident had occurred. Jordan was still limping but Blight didn't seem to care.
"You have to do the victors interview in 2 days" Blight said as he walked. "They ask you all about the games and how each event happened in your mind."
"I'm not doing that." Jordan said angrily
"Every victor does it you just have to answer truthfully and you'll be done quick."
"But what if I mess up or say the wrong thing."
"Even if you do, they tried to kill you once and you made it out alive so not much to stress about."
They had a laugh as they continued down the hall.
"But on a serious note who was the sponsor from the games that helped you at the end they saved your life."
"His name is chase but I don't know anything about him." Jordan said as they continued walking.
"Hmm I'll do some research but in the meantime let's get you ready for that interview.
Jordan and blight got on a bus and headed toward the tribute center where Jordan would stay. As soon as Jordan arrived he collapsed on the bed clearly drained of energy. As he sat all he could think about was his family he wanted to be with them badly. He had just won the games so he believed it was his right to see his family not do this stupid interview. While he thought Blight walked in clearly shocked or excited Jordan couldn't really tell.
"I know who sent you the package. Chase Snow the 17 year old nephew to the president. He doesn't usually participate in betting or sponsorship and he knows he's not supposed to." Blight said running out of breath. "He must have really wanted you to win because he went through a lot of trouble to sponsor you."
"So what does that mean for me." Jordon asked "like when was the last time he bet on a tribute."
"He hasn't bet yet you were his first. He might set up a meeting with you before you leave the capital probably before the victors interview." Blight said "but he's a very charming thought out individual if he does request to meet with you one don't deny it and two be careful what you say."
"I'll keep that in mind can I sleep now it's been a long week and I want it to be over."
"Sure I'll be here tomorrow."
Jordan stared at the ceiling thinking how he would ever sleep again. He just killed people. He wasn't merciful about it he just murdered them. He walked over and turned off the light and went and sat on his bed. He just sat in darkness too nervous to sleep in fear of what would happen. He slowly waited out till morning in the darkness hoping he was safe.
