The train doors opened silently revealing a floral wallpaper as the entered they took a turn and another door opened to reveal the greatest thing Jordan had seen in his life. It was modern and clean. There was windows all down the front with lots of trays of food.
"Wow this is amazing." Jordan thought out loud.
"Yeah it's cozy." Sarah said sitting down in one of the gold linen chairs.
"The capital is so charitable." Budea said
"Yeah so charitable for buttering us up to be killed." Jordan replied rushing to a seat across from Sarah and stared out the window.
"I don't like your attitude." She said clearly displeased. "Ill go get your mentor Blight." Blight was to date the second male victor from 7 there were 3 female winners also all who have passed away.
"Hey let's hope he can help us with the games." Jordan spoke trying to start a conversation.
"Yeah I don't have faith in it." She said pessimistically "he's been on this train 11 years and still no new victors from 7." She was clearly hurt in some way but she was trying to hide it. "We are one of the only districts that get weapons at young ages, even if we are not trained like careers we get to wield axes. Which should make it easier to win the games."
Jordan contemplated this and knew that his odds were better than an outlying district such as 10,11 and 12. Also it has been nearly 20 years since 8 had won.
"Well let's just hear him out and feel out how to make it to the end. We have to think light on our feet." Jordan knew that he was building an alliance before the games with her and wanted to have someone he could trust. The next moment the door of the train opened and a short bearded man walked though he was short but jacked.
"Hey welcome." He said with a smile. Sarah glared at him and Jordan waved.
"Darling that's going to be an issue for you." He said staring at Sarah.
"What is." Sarah said still not pleased by his presence.
"You need people to like you." He said..he seemed to care a lot about her and Jordan in that moment which made Jordan realize why he won. He had a way with words and action that was very loving and likable.
"You got sponsors didn't you." Jordan blurted.
"You're right, I did a good job making people like me." He said now looking at both of them with his dark brown eyes.
"Im surprised you're not drinking most victors get depressed and give up on life." Sarah said in the same pissed off tone.
"To be honest I'm surprised I'm not a drinker. The games are hard and disgusting but I just pushed through." He said not showing any signs of anger toward Sarah. "Sarah I know how it feels to hate the capital and to hate the games, but there's no way out of this. As much as I hate to say it only one of you 24 will exit that arena and I'm here to help your chances." Jordan stared at Blight with a blank expression. Sarah had lightened up a little and seemed to be listening to him.
"How did you win." Sarah asked curious now.
"Brute force" Blight responded "I don't recommend that strategy for you two since your both very young and rather non-intimidating. How about y'all get some rest we'll be in the capitol tomorrow." He said leaving the room.
"Ok, goodnight Sarah." Jordan said looking at her as they both got up to go to their rooms.
His room was big and wonderful. There was a piano which he was rather overjoyed about because he used to play the piano in the school building for the school choir.
