The next day came and Sarah who was on the last shift woke everyone up. They conversed to find out if anyone had died overnight and the four of them never heard a cannon indicating there are still 16 tributes remaining. Even though they were 1/3 of the way through Jordan did not want to showdown between him and Sarah or Azure. Jordan wasn't close with Laurel and had no issues killing her when the time came. They began walking back the way they came to go back to the cornucopia.
"If there's any supplies we need, I want them so I'm going back at least." Jordan said after Laurel complained once again.
"We will engage in fighting if we go back to the cornucopia."
"I'm good with that as long as we are a group we can take them." Sarah said as they continued in that direction. As they made it to the beach they saw that the cornucopia was not in sight and they looked around to see that they were on the other side of the island.
"Let's set down camp and figure out where we are we'll continue when we feel sure of what direction to take." Azure said as she surveyed the scene.
"So we are on the other side of the island right." Sarah asked after a 30 minute break.
"Yeah why." Jordan asked
"We can see the cornucopia now that's what." Sarah said pointing to the cornucopia which was now just to the right of where they were standing.
"It's moving. The islands are rotating probably every hour or so. That explains how we exited the same way but ended on the other side of the island." Azure said and they all agreed on this thought. And as the cornucopia appeared in front of them they swam back to the cornucopia and got to the island Azure was first and got up on the island while Sarah also started climbing. Jordan was helped up by the two girls and last was Laurel. Once they were up they explored the cornucopia but only found a moldy piece of bread and a lot more weapons which none of them could use. Jordan grabbed another axe and more knives but then they started heading out of the cornucopia. As Azure got ready to dive and she gasped. They were all surprised by this as she lost control and fell into the water. They looked and saw the boy from 12 who was shorter and very skinny and he was holding a bow that had hit Azure in the back. Sarah and Laurel lifted her back up to the cornucopia as Jordan got up and charged the boy from 12. He rammed into him knocking him down on his back. Jordan then preceded to bury his axe deep in the boys face repeatedly until there was nothing left of his face but blood. Blood was all over Jordan's arms, face and body. He pulled the axe out and the boy from 12's cannon sounded. Jordan then ran across the cornucopia to Azure who was gasping for air.
"Your not leaving me your fine." Jordan said kneeling next to her laying on the island.
"Just know that I'm betting on you." Azure said to Jordan as she started coughing.
"No your gonna get up please." He felt hot tears flowing down his face as they stared at each other.
"I'm ready to go, there's only one victor you know." Jordan hugged her and hummed a sweet tune. He felt her breath on his arms and the tears on his hand as she slowly stopped breathing and her eyes went dead. He cradled her head as her cannon sounded. Jordan kissed her cheek then picked her up and laid her in the water. Seeing that she was from district 4 it seemed appropriate. As she floated away the large aircraft came to retrieve her.  Creating ripples as her lifeless body was carried away by the claw. The remaining group stared in awe and sadness as Azure left them. They slowly left the cornucopia to one of the other islands that was situated around the arena. This island was more populated by trees and seemed to have wildlife inside of it. There were 14 tributes remaining, 2 careers the boy from 3 both from 5 the girls from 6 and 8 , the boy from 9 both from 10 and 11. But this is when the hunger games gets long and you go days without a death. He thought as he swam about how the capital is just watching and laughing at the dead bodies. Azure's death didn't mean anything to them. No death means anything. As they hit the wet rough sand of the beach they laid down clearly exhausted. Jordan took out his map and started sketching what he was seeing in order to remain confident he could get back to the cornucopia quickly in case of a showdown. Once they regained strength they headed into the island. This island was more lush and was way hotter. It had tropical trees and bushes and every once in a while they would see a gorgeous colored bird pass by. They kept heading onward till they hit a cliff. But this was no ordinary cliff it was a cliff with a spring at the bottom in almost a hole. Full of water that was clear as day. They saw some rocks that led town almost as if they were stairs. They headed down and set up camp at the bottom after a long day of traveling and loss Jordan laid down as Laurel took the first watch. The tributes in the sky were Azure and the boy from 12 named Indigo. Seeing Azure in the sky this early was not what he expected or wanted to happen on these games but he pushed this aside and fell asleep.
The next morning still no tributes had died leaving the number of tributes left at 14. Jordan expected these games to go for at least 5 more days and no less than that. Jordan had been rationing food but he could tell it would not last him much longer. He still had his 8 knives and an axe which he could take almost anyone down with.
"Let's hope one of the careers die soon." Laurel said
"They won't just die they are the two most elite fighters in here and both scored 10s." Jordan said clearly annoyed by Laurel he thought more and more about how much he wanted her gone. She didn't help at all and whined at every opportunity she got. Just then he caught himself and rubbed his bracelet and whispered
"What would Julia do."
"What's district 10 like." Sarah asked Laurel.
"I mean we're one of the poorer districts, I've never had much in my life most adults turn to morphling when they experience trauma. My mother did this after her brother died in the 27th hunger games. I knew being here would break her more but who knows I might make it out."
"Dang that's crazy my dad became an alcoholic when my mom died. He didn't even show to say goodbye to me before the games. I never knew how much I needed a father until now. I needed someone to tell me not to be scared or anything."
"Yeah my dad was my best friend he brought me to all the black markets in 10 and he constantly said he would buy me things he couldn't afford but he would do it just for his little princess." Laurel started crying "when I said bye I knew it was for the last time but I have hope I might get out if possible." Jordan watched as Sarah held her as she cried in her arms.
"Hey your dad knows even if you don't make it your no disappointment. You made it so far. I can tell by what you said your father loves you more than anything." Sarah said standing up to leave when Jordan stopped her. He grabbed her arm and walked away from Laurel. They were just out of reach of laurels ear. "I can't kill her or you." She said as she tried to leave again.
"You don't have to yet." Jordan said "there's so much of the games left just don't lose your head Sarah. Believe me I can't kill you either and she can't kill either of us she physically and mentally can't handle it."
"I don't want to be a murderer." She said as she pulled Jordan in for a hug.
"Your not. There are a million other words to describe you but murderer just doesn't fit."Jordan said "let's continue our journey."  They walked for a couple hours till they explored the whole island and Jordan documented it on the map. The heat was getting to them and they had to swim in the ocean every 10-20 minutes to not overheat. The only interesting thing in this island was a small ruin that didn't have much value except to hide in. It was one room filled with moss and nothing else it was made of stone and seemed very durable.
"Do you guys feel that." Laurel asked
"What." Jordan asked.
"The wind is picking up." The wind blew harder and harder by the minute. Soon little grains of sand started flying through the air.
"Everyone get to the ruin." Jordan yelled as they got cut by the sand that was growing in size and sharpness. Soon the sand was making it very difficult and with the ruin in their sights they continued running. Laurel was the first to enter with Sarah following and Jordan bringing up the rear.
"I found the purpose of the ruin." Jordan said as they sat down.
"Yeah and I guess we're stuck for a while." Sarah said as they stared around the room. Jordan looked up and saw something on the roof. There was someone hanging onto the top of the vines and moss. Jordan was surprised to see the curly haired girl from 11 with dark skin and gorgeous freckles Jorden smiled and put his finger to his lips indicating she should be quiet. Sarah was against alliances with anyone but Laurel and the ones from 4 but Jordan knew if he spared the girl from 11 she could help him later. He sat down and fell asleep as he waited for the storm to end.
Jordan woke up to sunny skies and no sandstorm. He exited the ruin and stretched realizing how badly he needed that nap. He could tell the day was almost over so he took Sarah and Laurel out of the shelter.
"Where would we go." Laurel asked angrily as she woke up.
"There's one last island let's go for it." Sarah said as they headed out for the 3rd and final island.  They began the walk seeing as the water from the island they were on to the island  they wanted to go to was shallow and walkable. They walked to the opposing beach and found that this island was very dense forest and shrubbery almost as if it were a tropical rainforest. They stayed on the beach as it got dark. Jordan was on first watch and he sat up as the two girls fell asleep. He heard different birds and animals from the forest as they slept the night away. Every once in a while Jordan would turn and see a bright colored blue macaw staring deep into his soul almost asking for him to enter the forest. Jordan woke Laurel up for her watch and he passed out immediately.
