The 68th Hunger Games

Day 6 and 7

Jordan woke up to the rustling of bushes around him. He shot up feeling light headed and in no condition to defend himself. He had cuts that were getting infected from the birds and he could feel every muscle in his body begging for nourishment. He stood up and grabbed his axe. He headed into the bushes where he hears the sound coming from. As he pushed one of the bushes aside he had saw a white parachute. Jordan nearly collapsed onto the parachute as he picked it up to reveal a number 7 on the container connected to it. This indicated that it was for his district and seeing that he was the only one from 7 it was for him. He quickly opened the container in the night air.  It opened to reveal a loaf of bread and a water bottle. This sponsor gift had no note so it was probably from one of the capital citizens. Jordon wolfed down the bread and climbed a tree to rest. He didn't know what island he was on so he stayed on the beach and just in the tree line until day arrived. Jordan walked out in midday and tried to find which island he was on. He looked across the water and saw the sandstorm island and then looked to the island next and compared the density of the forest. The forest was denser than that of the opposing island indicating that that island was the bird island and that Jordan was on the swamp snake island. He thought this island was the safest because unless you go to the water inland you would not encounter murderous beasts. As he sat in his tree he observed the cornucopia and waited to see if anyone was going to head to it. As he stared music from the capital went off.
"In a total of 15 minutes poisonous gas will be released in the arena. The cornucopia has the antidote for this gas. Thank you and may the odds be ever in your favor."
Jordan sat in his tree for a minute contemplating what he had heard. He stared at the center island and waited to see if anyone was to surface on it. Jordan climbed down the tree and waded into the water. He slowly made his way to the cornucopia constantly looking for other tributes. He made it to the back edge of the cornucopia and he couldn't see the contents of the cornucopia. Out of the corner of his eye he watched as Angie from 11 climbed onto the cornucopia she ran behind the cornucopia and seconds later she dove off the other side of the island. Jordan was relieved to see that she had made it out successfully. Jordan was surprised he couldn't see any of the other tributes because there were 6 others that had not made it to the cornucopia yet and there was about 5 minutes remaining. Jordan decided to jump on the cornucopia and run for the antidote. He still didn't know what form the antidote would take but he charged around the cornucopia to find assorted pills all different colors. He looked at his suit and saw the green highlights on the arms that were not there before. He looked down and grabbed the corresponding pill. He stuck it in his mouth and swallowed instantly and turned to run. As he moved around the cornucopia he was shoved in the back to the ground. He whipped his head around to see the huge boy from 11. Jordan knew that he could not take him and started to crawl away. But the boy from 11 named Rush grabbed Jordan's leg and pulled him back as he pinned him to the ground. He held his knife to Jordan's neck and pulled back ready to lodge it deep in his throat.  As the knife came down Jordan moved his neck out of the way. The knife found a different hole deep in Jordan's shoulder. Jordan couldn't suppress his scream as Rush ripped the knife out of Jordan's shoulder.
"10 seconds" an announcement said and Rush jumped off Jordan immediately and darted to the cornucopia. It was to far and Rush wasn't going to make it.
3.. 2.. 1..
As Rush reached the podium he collapsed but there was no cannon. Jordan walked over to see Rush had his head cut and seemed to not be able to move. His eyes darted back and forth as he sat motionless.
Jordan got down and thought about how he now needed a sponsor gift so he needed to kill Rush in a messed up iconic way. Jordan walked over to retrieve the axe he dropped because of Rush and walked back to his body. Jordan drove his axe into his chest and twisted it through his flesh around his heart. He then did something he never thought he would ever do. He reached into the flesh and ripped out his heart fully intact. He threw Rush's heart to the side and his cannon sounded. Jordan made his way to the only island he could see from his vantage point. He knew he would not be able to swim with the weight of his pack. So he grabbed 4 throwing knives and put them in between his wetsuit and forearms. And he dropped his pack and dove into the water. His wound felt more painful as the salt water washed over it. But he pushed through and swam as fast as he could with one arm. As he swam ashore he collapsed using all his energy swimming away from the cornucopia. He watched as multiple tributes went ashore the other two islands. Juniper and the girl from 5 went to one island on opposing sides. They headed to the bird island. The boy from 3 and the girl from 11 Angie headed to the sand island and the boy from 10 and the girl from 6 were no where in sight.  Jordan sat on the sand looking at the sky as he applied pressure to his shoulder. As he sat he heard the familiar beeping of a sponsor gift. As it came down to him he prayed that it was medicine. It was expensive for the capital but for his last kill he hoped it would happen. As he opened the sponsor gift he saw what he wanted so badly. It was medicine. He looked to see a note and oddly found one.

Jordan couldn't tell if he was flattered or disgusted. Jordan quickly applied the medicine and headed to a tree and climbed up the best he could with one arm. He quickly fell asleep after the day he just had. He awoke hours later to see the fallen tribute Rush in the sky.
The next morning he woke up and was getting more and more hope that he could win the games. He reached up to grab his ,which he thought would be in pain, shoulder and found that there was almost no wound or pain. He started to laugh as he rubbed over his new scar. He climbed down the tree and walked around the island prepping for what was to come. As he walked around surveying the island he heard a distant cannon. He secretly hoped it was Angie. He didn't want to be the one to kill an innocent girl like her. If it was between him and her he knew he couldn't kill her. He heard cracking in the bushes and knew someone was just inside the forest. He crouched down below the bushes so he was not visible through the forest. After a minute he heard the cracking getting louder and someone ran right over him stepping on his stomach. He rolled inside the bush to avoid being seen. She looked back trying to see what she had stepped on. Jordan readied his axe in one hand and put a throwing knife in the other. She slowly walked toward where he was hidden. Jordan felt his blood pressure rising. It was the girl from 6 but she looked unrecognizable with blood dripping from multiple holes in her wetsuit. Her usual blonde hair was now brown with mud. She was 17 but still looked weak and terrified. She got a glimpse of Jordan's foot she paused and looked straight at him and started to charge at him. Within seconds of her starting to run an arrow shot through the air hitting her in the stomach. She collapsed backwards and Jordan now completely terrified by where the arrow came from ducked deeper into the bush. The thorns of the bush were piercing his skin and drawing blood. Jordan watched as the girl from 6 clenched at her stomach. A second arrow shot through the air and hit her in the head deep. The rest of her body fell to earth as the boy from 10 walked out  through the bushes right next to Jordan with a bow in his right hand. The girl from 6 named Tanna was dead in seconds indicated by the distant cannon. Jordan was now looking at the boy from 10, Quint's, back. He quickly jumped out of the bush. He was very loud and Quint jumped and spun around just in time for Jordan's axe to dig itself deep in between his eyes. Quint's cannon sounded before his body hit the ground. Jordan was horrified at what he just witnessed but he couldn't help but think there were only 3 others left. Jordan sat on the beach and watched as the island slowly circle away from the cornucopia. Night creeped up fast and Jordan knew that the finale was coming. Tonight he would find out who he would be fighting to go home. The fallen tributes started playing and the first tribute was the girl from 5 followed by Tanna and Quint. Jordan immediately started stressing out. He had to kill a career a little girl and another person to win the games. Jordan was drenched in blood but it wasn't his he immediately started to rub at the blood in his wetsuit horrified of the things he had done in the arena. When he calmed down he curled up in a ball against a tree wide awake in fear of what would happen if he fell asleep.
