Chapter 20

Mia's POV :

I was crying mess when my mom finished telling me everything. That time must have been hard for her. How can he just leave her like that? when she was pregnant. Mom was not crying but just looking broken. 

" Mom what about your parents? What they said?" I asked her. I have never met my grandparents.

" They kicked me out of the house after knowing I am pregnant. They were ashamed of me. After that I never saw them again because they made it clear to never show my face to them" Mom said. What kind of parents are like that? 

" Then what did you do mom?" I asked her feeling down after hearing it.

" I was hopeless when they kicked me out of their house. For a minute I just wanted to kill myself but then you gave me strength. I wanted to live my life for you. From then, my life was for you. You became my only priority" She said smiling maybe remembering something. 

" Mom where were you staying in your pregnancy? I mean you were pregnant and didn't have any job so it must be really hard for you" I asked her. 

"My cousin was living in New York. She had her own flower shop. She was letting me stay at her place. She said I can stay with her until I get my own place. She used to come with me to doctor's appointment. She was there with me for my first ultrasound. Sometimes I used to help her in flower shop" She said with a smile.

"I started going on interviews. After a lot of interviews I got a job at a big company in New York. Salary was really good. I started searching for apartment for us. I moved out of my cousin's apartment when I got really nice apartment. It was 2 bedroom, hall, kitchen. I made nursery for you in one bedroom" 

" One Sunday, I was just watching TV, when my water broke. I was crying because of pain. Hearing my voice, one of my neighbour came to help me. She and her husband took me to the hospital. I told them to call my cousin. They called her and she said that she is on her way. I gave you birth, but she was still not here. Nurse was asking me, what I am going to name you but I told them to wait for my cousin. Just then my neighbour who helped me came in the room. She was crying. I asked her what happened. She was hesitant for a minute then said, an unknown number called on my phone which was from a cop. They said my cousin got in an accident while coming to the hospital. She died on the spot. I was shocked hearing that news. My heart felt heavy. One person who was there for me left me alone. I couldn't even do anything for her. I was on the edge of breaking out when I heard sound of your crying. When I looked at you, you stopped crying instantly and smiled at me" Mom said and smiled. 

" Mom who was this cousin you never talked about her. What was her name and how she looked like?" I asked mom curiosity. 

" Her name was Mia. She was my mom's brother's daughter. Her parents died when she was a child. After that she was staying with her mother's parents. When she became 20 years old, her grandparents opened a flower shop for her and she started working there. She loved working inn flower shop. She had long blonde hair and blue eyes" Mom said. My eyes widened. 

" You mean, you named me after my aunt?"

" Yes. I owed it to her" Mom said and a tear slipped from her eye. I went and sat beside her. 

" I am sorry mom. I was angry at you when I found out you told Alex to break up with me but now I know why you did it. You were worried about me and you have every right" I said as I hugged her. She hugged me back and we started crying together.

After sometime when we stopped crying, I decided to tell about what's happening between me and Alex now. This is the time and now I can make her understand that Alex is really serious about me.
