BTP KABANATA 7
Let's go straight there, then I'll leave na." I looked at my wrist watch. It's already nine in the evening kaya pala konti na lang ang tao sa mall dahil malapit nang magsara.
Satan stared at me when the stop light turned red. I should have has asked him if I can drive his car instead.
"Uhm..." Tumikhim ako at tumingin saglit sa harapan. "What-"
"Let's go on a road trip," pagputol niya sa sinasabi ko.
"Huh? May class tayo bukas."
"We'll be back in Manila at midnight. Okay lang ba sayo?" There was hope in his voice, and I didn't want to ruin the moment, so I slowly nodded.
"Where are we going?"
"Subic. We have a rest house there."
Lord, is this really happening? I mean... him and me, on a road trip? Parang sobrang imposible nun. We are not even close! We're basically just acquaintances to each other since we haven't bonded that much. Weirdly, I trust him given the fact that I don't trust people that easily.
There's something with him that feels comforting.
We drove to Pampanga since I'm craving for some pancakes. We did a drive thru instead of going inside.
"Here," I stretched my arms to give him a piece of pancake. He can't eat because he's obviously driving. "Don't be maarte walang laway 'yan. I told you, let's just eat sa loob, e."
"Tsk." Ibinuka niya ang bibig niya ang kinain ang pancake. I smiled and clapped my hands out of happiness. Nasa subuan level na kami.
"Why did you think of going sa Subic nga pala? Akala ko you're the type of guy ma hindi impulsive sa decision and like never skip school tapos may eight hours sleep."
Ayoko pa sanang sumunod para may kausap siya, but he insisted that he'll be okay.
"Sometimes, you also need to breathe some fresh air. Reward yourself as much as possible. That's my number one tip." I laughed because of how corny his last sentence was. "What's funny?" he rolled his eyes.
"Wala. I just felt like laughing."
"Do you want me to drive? Wala ka pang sleep," I genuinely asked.
He looked confused, but he still obeyed.
"What are you up too?" His forehead creased.
"I'll drive for us. Trust me."
"Tampo naman ang baby," I laughed and started the engine of the car.
"I'm not a baby," he groaned.
"You're my baby," I said, making him stunned. "Sleep na ang baby ko, hmm?"
He groaned again and closed his eyes. Paminsan-minsan ay tinitignan ko siya. Mukhang nakatulog na.
