BTP KABABANAT 27
"Doc. Belmonte, we need you here," Zari said. There was panic visible in her voice. "It's an emergency!" dagdag niya.
"What's happening to the patient?" I asked. I grabbed my coat and went outside.
"The patient is in labor, but she doesn't want to go under surgery unless you're the doctor inside the delivery room," sagot niya.
Napahawak ako sa sintido ko. "Can you do the operation for me? I'm not in Manila right now." I bit my lip.
"I'm a Cardiologist, gago! I bet all of them are panicking now, and I have no choice but to do a thing I might regret later on.
"Fine... I'll be there. Cesarian, right? Find someone that could do the first stage. I'll be responsible for the second stage."
I don't have any choice but to seek some help from him. As much as I want to ignore him, life is playing with us again.
"What do you need?" he asked as soon as he opened the door.
"I-I need you to drive me to your family's hospital. I h-have a patient and she's having a labor right now," I said, still panting.
I breathed deeply again while my eyes were closed.
"Are you okay? We'll be there in no time. Don't worry, hmm?" he sincerely asked. He was looking at me intently to the point I could see how worried he was.
Our staring contest was cut off when we heard a harsh sound from the roof of their house. My forehead creased and looked at the window.
"What's that?" I asked.
"Chopper. I asked someone to fetch us here," he said, grabbing my wrist. "Let's go. Your patient needs you."
"Good afternoon po," I greeted the captain.
He turned his gaze and smirked. "Good morning, Miss," he said. To my surprise, it was Nico who was piloting this chopper.
My jaw dropped. Never in my life, did I imagine Nico piloting a chopper. It just felt weird at some point... Zari would love to hear this thing.
"Why are you smirking," Satan asked with furrowed eyebrows.
"It's nothing," I answered.
"We'll be there in a few minutes," he said when he probably noticed that I was already calculating in my mind.
I wore my white coat and the stethoscope I grabbed out of the habit a while ago.
Luckily, we arrived faster than usual. I opted to use the stairs since the elevator would just give me anxiety.
I walked toward the patient and held her hand to calm her down. Even if she couldn't see my face clearly, I still smiled, hoping to ease the pain.
