BTP KABANATA 21

"Should I pick this?" I twirled and glanced at Mina and Kev, who was sitting on my sofa.

"Mas maganda 'yung satin na color red," Kev said and Mina agreed.

"Ano ba ang okasyon?" tanong ni Mina.

"Satan wanted me to come to his Dad's birthday," I shrieked. "I'm so excited!"

Satan looked close to his Dad compared to his Mom. He told me that his Dad is cooler than his Mom. Madalas daw tahimik ang Mommy niya. He also admitted that he used to be afraid of his Mom because she was strict.

"Iba talaga kayo, e. Biruin mo 'yun nakilala niya parents mo bago ka pa man kayo nakaabot sa ligawan stage tapos ikaw mamemeet mo parents, hindi pa man kayo," hindi makapaniwalang sabi ni Mina. "Sana all nile-legal agad," tumawa siya.

Kev gasped dramatically. "Ay, may sama ng loob? Hindi ka ba ni-legal kaya ganyan ka ka-bitter?"

"Gago!" Tinapunan ni Mina ng tissue si Kev sa mukha. "Wala nga akong ex."

Patuloy lang sila sa pagbabangayan habang ako naman ay nag-aayos na. Satan will fetch me at 8 and it's already 7:30 in the evening. Hanggang madaling araw daw ang celebration dahil may after party pa na magaganap.

When I asked Satan who would be there, he told me that his siblings would come and some of their relatives. He also said that he thinks less than 100 people would come because his parents, unfortunately, don't love socializing.

It's funny because in their chosen career, socialising is one of the major thing you need. Lalo na kapag pediatrics ang pinili mo dahil hindi madaling amuhin ang mga bata. Who has the patience? But Satan is considering pediatrics... Hindi ko maimagine si Satan na tahimik tapos puro bata ang nakapaligid sa kaniya.

I don't know if he likes kids, but it seems like he does. Hindi ko pa naman siya nakikitang may kasamang bata... puro libro lang. Libro na lang ata ang bumubuhay sa kaniya minsan.

Noong isang araw nga tinanong ko siya kung sino ang pipiliin niya, kung ako ba o 'yung libro niya. I can't believe he hesitated!

"He's here," I said when I heard a knock. I went straight to the door to open it. "Are we going—"

"Is Mina here?" Cloud hindered me from speaking.

I nodded slowly and looked at Satan to ask what the hell was happening. He just shrugged and kissed my forehead.

Dali-daling pumasok si Cloud sa condo ko kaya sinundan namin siya. When he saw Mina, he hurriedly went to her. Mina lifted her head when she felt Cloud's presence. Her lips parted, and the magazine she was holding dropped to the floor.

"The hell are you doing her?" she said in disbelief. Maging ako ay nagulat sa biglaang pagdating ni Cloud. Mukha siyang seryoso kanina kaya mas nagulat ako. It's very unusual of him to be like this.

"Come with me," he said.

Tumayo si Mina sa inuupuan niya at naglakad papunta sa kusina. "Ayoko," aniya.

"I need you to meet my Mom. She could help you."

Mina halted, but she didn't turn her back. I was so clueless about what was happening. Maging si Kev ay napatigil sa kaniyang ginagawa. Satan, on the other hand, looked calm and okay. There's a possibility that he knows something because he seems close to Cloud.

"Hindi ko kailangan ng tulong niyo," pagmamatigas niya. "'Wag mong pakialaman ang buhay ko, Cloud," lumingon siya kay Cloud.

She doesn't look like the Mina we know. She looks pissed right now. Ni walang reaksyon ang mukha niya. She remained stoic.
