I spend the day sitting at the edge of Kevin's bed trying to make him feel better, but all he can do is sit there and sniffle and cough and watch tv. We watch an english show since it's easier for him to understand without much effort.
"How are you feeling?" I ask.
"Same as last time you asked," Kevin says with a quiet laugh.
"I'm sorry" I pat his head.
"Stop saying sorry askjdfjs" Kevin says dramatically.
"sorry. maybe when you get better i'll stop," i grin.
We watch another movie though i can tell Kevin is getting bored of watching tv all day by the way he gazes at me sometimes. Eventually i pause the movie and turn around to face him.
"Need anything? Water? Food?" I ask.
"Nope," he says. "Just admiring you"
"Come onnn," I complain. "There's nothing to admire anyways" I shake my head.
Kevin raises his eyebrows, "did you really just say that in front of the Kevin Moon?"
I instantly regret it and try to move to a different subject, "well I can go out and get you a jacket-"
"well first of all I admire your intelligence and emotional awareness, I love your style and your fashion..." Kevin lists off as if he's been ready for this moment for weeks.
"Okay okay I'm sorry, I get it," I try to stop him before he can go on trying to prove me wrong.
"... I admire your eyes and your freckles and the way you grow from your past and-"
"Stoppp Kevin please I get it now," I try to cover my ears, embarrassed from all the compliments I don't usually hear.
But he continues on, "and the way you are prepared for everything and how you-" finally I had enough and I quickly lean closer to him and peck his cheek.
His face is stunned for a second and so is mine. But we're both equally as flushed until Kevin's face turns to a smirk as he asks,
"Did you just kiss me to shut me up?"
"... it worked though," I say, in disbelief I had the bravery to.
Kevin just grins and adds, "I think you get my point now,"
"Oh yes. I think I do," I stick my tongue out at him. "I think I might go out to get something, is that ok if I leave you?"
"Of course! Just call me if something happens or anything," Kevin adds as I stand up. "Don't forget to wear a jacket,"
"Hah!" I scoff at him and he grins. "I will,"
I open his bedroom door and wave goodbye at him.
"bye, and thanks babe," Kevin kisses the air quickly and I leave his room.
I walk a couple blocks past the school in the light snow. I arrive at the mall which has various clothing stores, restaurants, and other things. It's quite busy because it's the weekend. There are many families and friends groups and couples around.
I used to be anxious seeing couples around me, thinking one of them could get hurt at any given moment, but now I don't need to think that way.
