Chapter forty

"Right, I guess that wraps things up," Hiroto said pulling his tie outwards loosening it slightly sighing as the air that was restricted came into his lungs.

The quiver of his hand made the pen that pressed on the paper wobble. I've never seen Hiroto this uneasy and nervous before.

"That so? Well then how about we have a normal conversation from now on; I haven't seen Aurora in literal years so I hope you don't mind" he looked at Hiroto rynbung a hand through his hair "Go ahead I have a few things to go over.

The uneasy feeling in her stomach was not ignored, she was anxious around him; it wasn't something that started just now that she saw him; it's always been something she'd push away but now it really got to her.

The feeling was increased by like one hundred.

His gaze shifted from Hiroto to Aurora "Aurora when did you start working for Mr. Han" "A year" I answered quickly avoiding his gaze "That so?" She nodded keeping her eyes everywhere but his before taking a sip of the ice coffee that had ling melted "So how have you been?" I asked.

"Me?" he questioned as if he was not the center of attention today Aurora finally locking eyes with him "I've been doing alright for myself well other than graduating from law school with the highest honor; Harvard actually" oh wow look at this guy he laughed hoping Hiroto would laugh with him, instead Hiroto smiled at him.

He cleared his throat before the table was silent with awkward atmosphere. Aurora nearly jumped in her seat when she felt Hiroto's hand brush against hers before he placed it on her thigh rubbing his hand up and down.

The sudden show of affection made her realise she was probaby being too uptight and worried he knee her enough in this situations to soothe her anxiety; his hand was under the table so he wouldn't of noticed as well as disturb the conversation.

A few or so minutes passed and still, none of them said a word to each other Hiroto was far too into his work to start up a conversation, and Derek was just well being Derek admiring his damn reflection. Aurora on the other hand had enough of this silence and decided she'd ask the question that's been on the tip of her tongue ever since she saw him again..

"May I ask a question, Derek?" "Go for it" She cleared her throat before giving him her undivided attention.

"What the hell happened?" his eyebrow raised by my sudden attitude change "what do you mean?" Aurora folded her arms clear not impressed about the facade he put up in front of his soon-to-be boss she could already feel a fire build in her "You know exactly what I mean; cheating; leaving me that night you knew how vulnerable I was and you still chose to break me down like you did, why?"

Derek sighed before running a hand through his glossy brown hair "Look Aurora, I did those things in the past because I was immature I'm not the type of person I was back then" "Bullshit"

At this point, Hiroto was just a sitting duck between two aggressive bears waiting for the right time to butt in "I just want one simple answer, why?"

Derek was quiet for a few minutes or so trying to find the answer himself and get his thoughts together it wouldn't be long before he snaps Aurora knew him too well.

"Look Aurora, you are a beautiful woman and a very smart girl I'm pretty sure you can put two and two together" Aurora smirked hearing exactly what she wanted "So you admit you were an absolute asshole who destroyed me, you took away my pride my friend's heck even my reputation, do you know how I felt when everyone excitedly came running to me to tell me how you cheated, you're a disgrace" "Oh please as if you're a Saint" Snap

She paused for a minute eager to hear what he had to say "You were always so controlling 'Derek do this' and 'Talk more to me' as if I weren't dealing with enough at that time already I had so much going on and you couldn't just leave me alone" he stood up towering over her as if she were some weakling under him this caught Hiroto's attention "You needed me and controlled me" "I controlled you?"

She wouldn't take this disrespect from him, from anyone for that matter "Sure I admit some things I did was selfish but you have no right to justify yourself through my action, we all know you are the wrong one here" he clicked his tongue at her, anyone could tell he was overly upset by their conversation even the heads of other tables look their way "This was supposed go be strictly business but here you are making everything about yourself as usual not caring about anyone else" "You being here right now is my business since youre the one whos applying to work for my boss" the look on his face was one of disgust as if he were downgrading.

"Get over yourself Aurora you're not the only person living in this world, hell I don't even understand how you got this job in the first place"

"Excuse me?" Aurora was fueled up from this. The audacity he had to call her out like that; he was over his head.

"You heard me, I don't have enough fingers or toes to count the number of people you probably had to blow to get the position you're in" Aurora was utterly speechless by his sudden words the nerve he had to say that; he was the one in his own world letting his anger get the best of him completely forgetting his soon to be boss was infront of him

"You're as pathetic as you've always been and nothing will change, you're nothing more than a slu-" "That's enough Mr. Caddel" Hiroto stood up glaring at Derek "Now it's one thing to insult Miss Clark but, it's another to call her untruthful words that have nothing to do with her"

His eyes soften once they reached hers, Aurora was wondering when he'd step into this madness of an argument they were in "If you must know Miss Clark and I are together in a relationship and she had done nothing of such sort to get where she is today except hard work and dedication which I found her most powerful contribution to my company"

Hiroto grabbed my hand and signed the check we hadn't even notice sit across from us "You don't seem to be able to work well in my company nor have the human decency to address matters correctly; I suggest you take your job position with someone else, thank you for your time and don't you dare speak to Aurora ever again"

Derek looked at him in disbelief he glared at me before he stormed out the café taking his bag with him she could hear him cuss to himself under his breath. Mr Han was quiet as he lead Aurora out the café not uttering a word. Aurora couldn't help but feel this was her fault if she would of kept her mouth and not let pittytake over her then maybe he would of been hired.

But that didn't change the fact that was and still is a shitty person but; there was no telling how good he was and could of been as asset to the team company. Instead she let her feelings control her and ruined the interview with her old feelings but who could if blamed her?

A past ex comes into her life with heavy history would make anyone feel uneasy and since she is now in a relationship with her boss her responsibility to her job and her boyfriend was mixed she felt like she embarrassed him by letting herself unleash like that and for what? The only thing on her mind is how Hiroro felt.
