Chapter 25: Forget Me Not

"Hey mom, dad... It's me Miah. I just graduated top of my class. I also won Prom Queen would you believe that? I couldn't either..." Miah stood in front of her parents' tombstone in her graduation cap and gown.

She went straight to Daegu after receiving her diploma this morning. Of course her adaptive parents didn't protest that she had to leave. Jungkook however insisted to come but Miah stopped him. She said his parents deserve to spend quality time with him before he goes off to college.

"I'm with Jungkook now and he's really amazing. He makes me feel so loved and cared for. I wish you were here to meet him and see how great he is."

Miah only needed to see her parents to show them that she's okay so after a few minutes of visit she drove back to Seoul.

📱JUNGKOOK: "Angel, are you on the road back?"

📱MIAH: "Yes Kookie, I'll be there in time for dinner".

📱JUNGKOOK: "Be careful driving okay? I love you."

📱MIAH: "I love you Jungkook..."

Sweet, it's been a while since he heard Miah call him by his full name since she loves calling him Kookie.

~ER of Seoul General Hospital~

For Jin, it was just another duty day at the hospital. He asked a friend to take over his shift for tonight since he's having dinner with family. Jungkook and Miah just graduated and they're celebrating together.

Jin was about to leave his post when an ambulance came in, another vehicular accident was spotted in the city, good thing only 1 victim was brought in. Jin rushed to the stretcher to help out.

"18 year old female, car crash, multiple injuries, probable pneumothorax and head trauma. Found unconscious on the spot..."

"Is she a Jane Dough?" The receiving staff asked.

"Her name is PARK, MIAH and her parents are on their way here."

Jin's entire body felt a sudden chill by the mention of the victim's name. He must've heard wrong?! But as he looked at the familiar form of a girl on a stretcher with a star necklace around her neck, laying lifeless, he just felt numb all over knowing pretty well it was indeed Miah.

Jungkook has been standing by the OR since he got there with his parents. It's been 2 hours since Miah disappeared through those big swinging doors and Jungkook never felt so helpless, waiting anxiously to see his fiancé again.

"I love you Jungkook..." was her final words when they said goodbye over the phone just a few hours ago. He could've said he loved her more, he could've driven her to Daegu, he could've been there to protect her... but he wasn't and that pain lingers in his heart.

"Hey Kook... sit down for a while." Jin said knowing full well Jungkook will not leave the spot until he sees Miah.

"She can't leave me hyung. We haven't even started a life together. I can't lose her now." He said as tears came flooding down his face.

"The doctors are doing everything they can to save her but you need to do your part too. You have to be strong. She needs you to be strong for her."

< 1 week later>

"She has amnesia. She knows herself and her past but her recent memories are affected." Miah's doctors said as they explained her condition after several days in coma at the ICU.

"We need to be gradual in feeding her with information. Let her try to remember you instead of  forcing her to remember." Another doctor in the team suggested.

In the past days that Miah was unconscious, Jungkook only wished to see her eyes and smile again. Now that she's back he can't wait to hold her in his arms and tell her how much he loves her.

They waited outside of Miah's room as she was being prepped by her private nurse to see them. Miah's parents came in first and after a few minutes Jungkook was asked to step in.

He was nervous to see her. He misses Miah so much that he's afraid he couldn't control himself from wrapping her in his arms.

Miah was sitting on her bed as Jungkook went in the room. He almost gasped at the sight of her beautiful face. He couldn't believe Miah looked the same even more pretty in his eyes despite of everything that happened.

"Hey..." Miah said shyly.

"Hey..." Jungkook replied, looking directly at Miah, searching for the love she used to reflect from those eyes when she looks at him. Sadly now, it's not there anymore. All he sees was a shy girl not being able to look at him directly.

"My doctors said I can ask you a few questions." She finally looked at him but immediately looked down on the small notebook and pen she was holding.

"Sure angel... uhmmm Miah." He stuttered.

"When did we meet?" She asked while scribbling on her notebook.

"We were classmates in high school. I was a new student and we became seat mates."

"Was I mean to you?" She asked eyes still glued to her notebook.

"At first yes but you kind of eased in to me." Jungkook smiles at the memory.

"Oh... I'm sorry." She said in a sad tone.

"Hey, it's fine now. Don't feel bad." Jungkook almost reached out for her hand but he restrained himself. "Can I ask you something?" He said.

Miah looks at him with a smile. "What is it?"

"Can I visit you everyday?" Jungkook asked.

"I guess... if you really want to." She said with a shy smile and... is that a blush? Jungkook could clearly see she was blushing. It made his heart hopeful that he still holds a place somewhere in Miah's heart.
