I was downstairs with Vegas while dad and the boys were upstairs. Dad then came down with Archie.

"Can I talk to you two outside?" Dad asked. We both went outside as dad sat down and talked to us about mom. "The good news is that all those divorce papers and legal mumbo jumbo will be done. Should be behind us by the end of the week."

"Are you only going to see mom now because you and Hermione Lodge?" Archie asked.

"No, no," Dad denied. "I ended that. Being together, working together, is not a good idea."

"Then why are you finalizing things now?" I asked.

"Sometimes, you just gotta rip the Band-Aid off," Ada advised. He stood up while grabbing his bag.

"Or you can try and fix things," I suggested as Archie and I stood up.

"We're past that point, Dani," Dad sighed as he made his way down to the car.

"I spoke to Mom last week, she didn't mention any of this dad," Archie argued.

"Your mom moved out a few years ago," Dad reminded us. "She did tell you two because she wanted me to be the bearer of bad news."

"What if we came with you?" I suggested.

"This is between me and your mom," Dad stated. "I'll check-in." Archie and I watched as dad drove away to finalize the divorce.

When we got to the school, I hung by my locker not saying a word to anyone.

"Are you alright?" Josh asked me.

"I'm fine," I assured him as we started for class.

"You have been really distant," Josh stated. "Are you cheating on me?"

"No," I immediately responded looking at him like he was insane. "It's just a bunch of stuff going on at home."

"Is this still about your mom?" Josh asked.

"Dad left to finalize the divorce with mom," I told him.

"Are you going to be alright?" Josh asked as he held my hand.

"I just need to get my mind off it," I assured him. "Are you busy after practice?"

"I am all yours," Josh assured me.

I was sitting, eating lunch with Josh, a few Bulldogs, and a few vixens.

"He's back," Ginger stated. I looked up to see Chuck Clayton, once again roaming the school.

"Don't do anything irrational," Josh advised. We watched Chuck sit next to Ethel.

"I won't," I said. "But I think Betty will." We watched Betty storm over to Chuck and Ethel.

"Oh god," Josh breathed. "Look away, it makes it less awkward." We all looked away.

"I thought he was expelled," Midge stated.

"Nope," I denied. "He was suspended.

The next day I was at cheerleading practice when Cheryl told us to stop.

"You're late, Veronica," Cheryl said, everyone turned to Veronica walking. "We've already reviewed the new choreography for Homecoming. That means you'll be in the back where your presence will do the least amount of damage."
