Reading and understanding the bible is not hard, as many believe. The bible is misunderstood in itself. This is because the bible is just like literature books. This is what many people conflict with, thinking that sacred writings should not be called 'literature'. Once you understand that this book is literature. It becomes easier to know that it contains figurative and plain expressions. The figurative expressions will need to be studied to unravel their symbolism. The plain expressions are as they are without deeper understanding.

The bible has a theme. The theme of the bible is Jesus. The scriptures see Jesus as the promise that is coming from God. The New Testament sees it as Jesus that has come to fulfill the promise of God. With this knowledge, it becomes easier to know that anything that looks hard would first pass the question of whether it talks about the promise or fulfilment of Jesus as the Christ. This sole goal gives direction to the reading of the bible. Never forget, the bible is a conglomeration of books with a singular aim. This is to talk about Jesus Christ. This has made it easier to read.

In the epistles, Paul emphasizes the fact that people will understand his revelation in the writings by reading them.

Eph 3:3 How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words,

Eph 3:4 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)

To understand the bible, you need to keep reading it. Knowing the theme of the bible, it becomes easier to trail your footsteps towards the goal of the writers of the books contained therein.
