"Mr.Green?"
I look up.
"Yes doc?" I ask.
"Mr. Green I'm sorry to tell you that Pyper is suffering from a tumor in her brain. The impact of the crash made her have a concussion. She hasn't woken up yet."
"And not only that but we found traces of meth in her system. The x-ray showed that, that could've been the reason she ran away from you. Or acted the way she did, because of the meth."
I look at the doctor in total shock.
"What?" I ask again. I probably look like a idiot but I don't care.
"Mr. Green she's dying."
My heart stops beating and my breathing goes slack.
"No that is impossible! " I shout.
"No!!!"
"Mr. Green calm down." The doctor says soothingly.
"No I wanna see her." I say.
He's hesistant.
"Doc I need to see her for myself, please."He nods.
"It's hard in the beginning..... " He goes on and on about lossing someone.
But I ignore him.
If there's anything I learned from being with Pyper its that she would never take drugs let alone meth.
So that only left one option. Someone gave it to her. And I was gonna find out who.
All my thoughts evaporated once I saw her. I stood there looking at every detail.
Her crumpled body.
Her greenish face.
Her matted hair.
Her tired eyes.
If this is what death looked like,
It was one thing I never wanted to see again.
Ms.Timms walks in suddenly holding Harmony's hand.
I immediately sheild her tiny eyes from the stranger in front of her.
Ms.Timms turns to face me.
She looked at her daughters body, then me.
"You!?!" Her voice rises as she approaches me no longer holding Harmony.
"You were supposed to watch her. Take care of her. I trusted you!"
I grab her body and hug her tight. As she pours out, her mountain of fears and worries. I wrapped her ia in a deep hug. That not only held her in love, but, forgiveness.
And of all things hope.
Hope that she would wake up.
Hope. For tommorow.
*******
I rock back and forth. Back and forth. Back and forth.
I had nothing else to do. And it was so what comforting.
I was waiting for her to wake up. Needing her to wake up.
I get up and walk over to her bed. I grab her cold, yet soft hand, and hold it.
The room was decorated with
'get well soon' balloons and cards.
It looked more lively then, Pyper.
Everything looked better than her. Everyday for the past month she's looked worse and worse.
We all prayed and asked God to deliver. But his works are still hidden. Maybe he has a plan for her. I don't know.
I kiss her palm. "I miss you a lot." I say, repeating what Harmony always said.
