"Our family is the one thing we can depend on most. No matter what they come through, eventually.
;)" - Selleannia Reed (aka Lee)

Shayne's P.O.V

It was sad to say it was a bit confusing navigating my way through town again.

First stop was my house, I hadn't had a good meal neither a long hot shower in a minute.

I quickly and silently climb the long spiral staircase. I swiftly change out of my brown Kakis and white v-neck.

I wrap a towel around my unclothed bottom half. Walking to the bathroom while holding my towel was quite difficult.

I insert the bathtub, letting the water cover my entire bare body.

It felt, great. My thoughts were less muzzled. And I could also make sense of the situation.

6 months hadn't done enough to clear my thoughts. I realized that I could think more around Pyper.

I had watched her from a distance some days. Some days I would jump to different towns.
School was out of it. But of course my parents made me go some days.

Pyper didn't know this. Surely not, I never found the person either. Never.

But I wasn't gonna stop looking.

I dry off, after exiting the shower of filth. I place on some jeans and a black v-neck T-shirt, with a grey hoodie. I jog down the steps.

"Mom!" I shout.

"Dad?!"

"City?"

"Chris?"

No one. I check all the rooms just in case they were deaf.

I walk into City's room, to find her sprawled on it sleeping soundly.

I decided to have some fun with this situation.

I stomp hard and loud out in the hallway. To grab her attention.

I act as if I'm out of breath as I jog into her bedroom.

"City! There's a fire we gotta get out!" I scream at the top of my lungs.

She quickly leaps out of her futon. Unlike the rest of us Modern people she likes to sleep on the floor.

I'm in a mess of laughter as she kicks me.

Her hair was a wild mess and slob out lined her jaw and lips.

I smirk as I pick myself up.

"You freaking jerk. I should kick your a$$ for that."

"Yea you should but after you wash your face and brush your teeth. You look like a panda just trodden on you."
I laugh at her.

"Whatever." She sighs, walking briskly to her bathroom.

I go to the kitchen. "What to eat? What to eat?" I ask myself quietly.

"You still do that sh^t bro?"

I chuckle at his voice. "Chrissy, bro." I shout.

"How's it been?" I ask after giving him a brotherly hug.

"Great, man. You?"

"Its cool. I guess."
He nods in understanding.

"Dad?"

"Haven't seen him in a year." I say shaking my head in disappointment.

"That's him I guess. But hey he'll come around soon."

"Mhmm." I go back to the fridge.
I pull out watermelon and silently grab a spoon.

"Talk to me." Chris says as City walks down the stairs.

I shrug eating a slice. "There's nun to talk about." I say, cooly.

"Its a girl." City high voice chimes in.

"Ah really?" Chris holds his weight against the marble counter.

I shoot City a death glare, as she grabs the cereal.

"No."

"What's her name?"

"Pyper." I invisibly punch Felicity.

"Ah Ok. Is she Asian?" He asks, happily.

See this is why I didn't want Felicity saying anything. You see Chris was a bit old fashioned. When it came to mingling. He believed that Whites belonged with Whites,Russians with Russians, Blacks and Blacks, Asians with Asians.

In all honesty he was hypocritical. Our own parents are an interracial couple. My dad being Irish and English. While my mom on the other hand was, Chinese and Korean.

Yea maybe not all of my girlfriends are Korean or Chinese but he didn't need to know that. I wanted my oldest and only brother to be proud of me.

I clear my throat. Felicity's mouth was shut as she watched us both intently.

"Chris she's ugh. Um she's ugh...."
I stumble over the right words to say.

I take a deep breath. Wither he liked it or not I was gonna tell him. Flat out.He still should be happy for me right?

"She's black, Chris." I say empathizing the word 'black.'

"And I'm in love with her weather you agree or not." I exasperate confidently.

His face is hard. Unreadable.
And my first thought was, I'm a disappointment.

Suddenly his expression breaks into a smile.
"That's great little bro."

I stand there utterly confused.
"Your okay with this?" I ask.

"Yea. Over the pass few years I've fallen for a black girl myself. Shes helped me with me pass thinking.I just thought you were still into Asians."

"I never liked them." I sigh in relief.

He smirks before saying. "I gotta go Shayne but I'll see you later?"

I nod."Wouldn't miss it."

I look over at City whos leaning over her phone. I pick up a red plastic cup and throw it at her head.

"Ow." She says rubbing the area I blasted.

"Shut up next time." I say grinning.

She flicks me off as I walk to the door.

Next stop: Kaylanna's.
