Been a while huh? Double update as an apology
𝙃𝙖𝙧𝙧𝙮 𝙡𝙖𝙞𝙙 𝙖𝙬𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙤𝙣 𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙗𝙚𝙙, staring up at the ceiling whilst listening to Ron's snores to his right, a noise he had gotten used to over the years but never bothered him, sometimes Ophelia would snore very lightly when she was sick with flu.
But right now, Ophelia was just sick.
He'd been sat in the room a couple of days after boxing day when Snape came to run some tests with Madam Pomfrey in the kitchen along with The Marauders and Wives. Madam Pomfrey, the amazing patient woman she was, ran some general health tests on Ophelia while explaining to her parents exactly what her sickness entailed.
"Well, Severus and I have theorised that the poison she ingested has not only mutated her magical abilities but her blood cells, giving her a permanent and more severe and harsher form of Anemia, her red blood cells have weakened so she cannot carry enough oxygen in her blood, the lack of iron causes her to be paler, short of breath on particularly bad days... giving her headaches and making her lightheaded, and ahhh..."
"What?" asked Remus, his hand over his mouth as he cringed at the large needle being brought out to draw blood from his daughter's outstretched arm, while Snape checked her pupils, which he frowned at.
"Irregular heartbeat... her heart is working double-time to pump oxygen around her body... the potion the good Professor will ease the stress on your heart, and the chest pains you're no doubt experiencing... " said Madam Pomfrey, cleaning the crook of Ophelia's elbow as she young witch grimaced at calling Snape "The Good Professor." Pressing the needle into her vein, Remus turned his face away as a vial was filled with Ophelia's blood, it was sealed and handed to Severus as a cotton pad was placed over Ophelia's arm and kept tight with a bandage.
Remus looked back, his hand resting in Gwens who was silently crying at the sight of Snape pouring a potion down their daughter's throat. Harry watched with his arms folded, as the potion was tilted down her throat glowing on the way down making her veins glow beneath her skin, that's when he saw how black they were on the inside. "Better?" asked Madam Pomfrey checked Ophelia's temperature, she nodded thankfully, letting out a sigh of relief as the pressure on her chest waned slowly away, she couldn't remember the last time her chest felt normal.
"In the short terms, the girl cannot produce blood fast enough to replace it, meaning she ought to be avoiding any altercation that would put more pressure on her heart, it takes a normal person 48hrs to replenish a pint of blood, Miss Le Fay... as your three weeks in the hospital has proven, that losing a pint of blood could prove almost fatal due to the lack of oxygen already in your system." said Snape, pulling out three more glowing bottles from a bag he had brought with him, putting them on the table beside Ophelia. "Drink a potion every two days, I will be back once you have finished your doses and will be back for more."
Ophelia nodded, hopping off of the table.
"Can I go?" she asked wiping her nose, "Or is there something else that needs addressing?"
"Can you show us your left arm?" asked Madam Pomfrey carefully, "I need to check how you're healing."
Ophelia sighed, that was definitely not what she wanted her to say, she had avoided looking at it for the simple reason it was a constant reminder of Umbridge's prejudice's, avoiding eye-contact with anyone as she leant against the table, pulling her sleeve up to her elbow, revealing the bandage wrapped over the tender skin.
Harry stepped beside Ophelia his hand hovering over her own hesitantly as it was gripping the table with so much force he was surprised her bones hadn't popped out through her skin. He decided to just rest his hand beside hers... his pinkie very lightly tapping on her skin.
