Though he would catch her zoning out every so often when no one had spoken to her directly for a solid few minutes, she'd be three pages behind everyone else in the textbook too busy re-reading the same sentence over and over again-- he'd taken to putting his hand ontop of her lap so she could trace and doodle invisible lines into his skin to remain present, every so often they'd swap and Harry would hold her hand in both of his as he gently massaged the trembling away, kissing her knuckles when she tensed suddenly to ease her again.
When Ophelia needed distracting in the common room as Harry was too invested in that potions book she would take to plaiting the longer parts of his messy hair and after enough times of doing it and Harry spotting ones in the mirror that were hidden in the rest of his hair he tried figuring out how to do himself, and his guinea pig was Ron.
"Just keep still!" hissed Harry as he yanked on Ron's hair for the thousandth time, Ron folded on his bed from the irritating feeling of Harry trying to undo the mess he'd made of the back of Ron's hair.
"Get off!" Ron exclaimed, running to the mirror to look at his hair, "It looks like a rat's nest!"
"Well it wouldn't if you didn't move!" barked Harry irritably.
"Well I wouldn't move if you knew how to be gentle-!"
"Gentle?!" exclaimed Harry, "I'll show you gentle in a minute!"
At that very moment, Ophelia and Hermione had chosen to return from their little walk of the grounds and found Harry trying to pull a brush out of the back of Ron's hair but promptly stopped the instant the girls stepped into the Boy's Dormitory.
"Just for the record, the whole common room heard that little... debacle." said Ophelia with a light chuckle, "How have you managed to get a brush stuck in your hair Ron?"
"Ask him." said Ron pointing at Harry.
"I tried to learn how to plait." said Harry bashfully, scratching the back of his neck.
The girls exchanged a look of surprise before bursting into a light laughter, the two of them taking off their jackets and setting down their belongings as Ophelia went to Harry's side while Hermione gently set Ron on his bed to begin unpicking his hair from the brush, which admittedly had Ron getting all flushed and boy-like as he kept glancing up at Hermione as she gently undid the plethora of knots by hand.
While Ophelia sat in front of Harry and pulled some of her long caramel blonde hair over her shoulder.
"Now, split this into three." said Ophelia, watching as Harry carefully divided the section of hair into three equal parts looking at her patiently as she demonstrated how to plait correctly, weaving her hair slowly and carefully so he followed the motion properly before putting the three parts into his hand and guiding him the first few times until he followed the motion confidently.
"You make it look easy," said Ron with a smile, "He just kept trying to make knots that looked like it."
"I'm surprised you didn't know how to do it," said Ophelia as Harry picked out a new section for his own plait, "Having a little sister and all."
"Oh mum took over everything to do with Ginny, proper adored her growing up, being an only girl means that any touching of her hair is strictly banned," said Ron, "Though I wouldn't mind learning."
