The Avengers rushed in through the front doors, all arriving at about the same time with Tony and Sam a little ahead. Tony heard the gunshots and Sam swore. Without a moment's hesitation Tony fired his repulser and the shooter went down. He wasn't even close enough to see who'd been shot in the adjacent hallway yet. Tony was so focused on getting the shooter he didn't look to see who exactly had been shot. Sam was handling it so he thought it was alright. While Tony cuffed the shooter Sam ran over to the kid on the floor, his friend already by his side freaking out. Sam gently pushed the unharmed friend out of his way and turned the gunshot victim onto his back. Sam always acted like he found Peter annoying but he really cared for the kid, a lot. So when he saw that the victim was Peter, his heart skipped a beat. There was blood everywhere and it looked as though Peter had been shot twice in the abdomen. He was bleeding out, that much Sam could tell.

"Oh shit." Sam said under his breath as he began applying pressure. "Tony!" Sam shouted, just as Steve arrived. Clint ran straight into the classroom of crying kids to try to help them calm down. Steve, Bucky and Scott were already standing behind Sam as he called from Tony. Steve looked down at the bloodied kid and realized that it was Peter.

"No." Steve knelt next to Sam, and put pressure on the second gunshot wound. Blood was still slowly slipping through their fingers. Scott just stared, unsure what to do. Still, he reached out and put a comforting hand on Ned's shoulder. Ned was crying, he was so upset that he didn't even care that he was surrounded by Avengers.

Tony came over. His helmet coming off as he saw his kid bleeding on the floor. Peter wasn't really Tony's kid, but Tony cared for Peter so much and the idea of losing him was terrifying.

"Tony, it's Peter." Sam said, the fear in his tone obvious.

"He's losing too much blood." Steve added as Bucky knelt beside him checking Peter's pulse. Clint emerged from the room and his eyes grew wide as he saw who everyone else was crowding. Tony pushed past Bucky who was trying to help and lifted Peter into his arms. Then he told FRIDAY to prepare the med bay and tell Dr Cho that they had a gunshot victim. Without another word Tony flew off. He flew past Nat, who was delivering aid to a dying security guard near the front of the school . She didn't even see Peter's face but she knew why Tony was in such a rush and it scared her too. But she had to try to help the security guard and as badly as she wanted to follow, she couldn't.

Sam looked at his hands. They were covered in Peter's blood. He'd lost friends before but somehow he was still shaken. Steve placed a hand on Sam's shoulder as Buck stood up. Clint kept staring at the pool of blood on the hallway floor.

"We have to go check on Peter," Steve said. Bucky nodded and Sam stood up, shakily putting on his red goggles. Blood accidentally got on the bottom of the lenses but Sam could still see. Then they all ran out of the school just as the police arrived. Steve handed the shooter over just as he left. They were all moving so fast the police had little time to thank them and the paramedics barely had time to ask Nat if the guard had gotten worse before the Avengers were off to check on their kid.

Tony landed in the med bay where Dr Cho was waiting. She had no idea that Peter was Spiderman but she knew that he was an intern. Bruce looked from the bloody Peter to a worried Tony.

"What happened?" Bruce demanded, noticing that Peter was not in his suit. Dr Cho wasn't always around and so it was usually up to him to deal with the medical incidents.
