Okay this is separate from the regular timeline of my other stories. In this fanfic MJ, Aunt May, and Ned do not know that Peter Spider-Man and none of the Avengers know Peter's secret. Also they all worked everything out after civil war and are a big happy Avengers family. (Finally, this was all written an like 4am and I've had covid for days so the following story is unedited, apologies in advance)

The Avengers were spending a normal day just goofing around in Avengers Tower. There was no pressing matter, no missions or issues, it was a regular day, the type of day that made Peter smile. Tony was doing some company work for Pepper on his tech pad but Peter didn't care, he was playing card with Cap since that's what he preferred over video games anyways.

"Sir, the reporter Pepper sent wants to see you," FRIDAY informed. That got all the Avengers attention for a moment.

"A reporter? But my hair isn't even done," Wanda joked, leaning into Vision, laughing.

"You look beautiful always." Vision wrapped his arms around Wanda and Sam rolled his eyes at the love birds.

"Are you going to tell them that I'm an Avenger this time, because my ex-wife's husband is still teasing me that I'm not really an Avenger," Scott pips up.

"I don't think he's here to talk about us, Scott," Nat corrected.

"Bingo, 10 points to the deadly spider. He's here to talk about Stark Industries latest project." Tony grinned, momentarily looking up from his tech pad.

"And this 'latest project' is safe, right?" Steve cut in, still focused on his cards; he was losing.

"Don't worry Steve, I've seen it with my own eyes and it would be revolting anytime soon," Peter joked, but he only got a critical glare from Mr. Stark. "Sorry," He mumbled in response.

"No worries kid." Tony winked. "FRIDAY send the reporter up." Tony ordered, taking a seat at the kitchen island.

"Hey, wait. What about the kid? Peter isn't in his suit, isn't it weird that he's here." Clint inquired. Peter smirked laying down his cards in an absolute victory. Then he stood up and walked over to the kitchen to grab some chips and water.

"It's fine Clint. To the world I'm Tony's personal intern. I mean, how do you think I explain all my time spent here." Peter reminded in a proud son sort of way. The elevator doors opened and Peter didn't even bother to glance over. He just kept assembling his snack in the corner of the kitchen. Tony exchanged a few brief words with the man. It was the usual run around, 'yes there's a new project,' and 'no, I will not explain it in detail.'

"Is it true an intern has been one of the main contributes to the project?" Peter heard the man ask. It was odd, he sounded familiar, but Peter wasn't paying enough attention to put a name to the voice.

"Yes, that is true. He's actually grabbing me a snack right now. Hey kid, come over her for a sec," Tony called. Peter smiled to himself picking up the bowl of chips. This was just a ploy for Mr. Stark to steal his snack. He walked over, put the food down, and only then did he see who the reporter was. Before Peter could even open his mouth to respond, the man jumped in first and said something... something Peter hoped to never hear again, especially around the Avengers, around his second family, his idols.

"Petra?" The man exclaimed. The Avengers turned to look over, confused at why the reporter got Peter's name wrong with such confidence. "My god, you've grown. Still insisting on that hair cut I see. I'm sure you'll work things out properly soon enough though." Peter felt his stomach sink. He didn't want to hear this. He didn't want to be here. The man was Jason Smith, some random man that used to live across the hall from Peter... back when Peter wasn't Peter just yet. "Mr Stark I have got to say you picked a bright young lady as your intern. I knew her when she was little and even then she was solving puzzles and math equations better than me. Petra Parker is one of the smartest around and with you as her mentor she will be the queen of Stark Technology soon enough, that, I'm sure of." Every 'she,' every 'her,' they were harder blows that any that Peter had had while being Spider-Man. This, this was pure torture. Jason glanced at his watch and swore. "Darn, I have to get another interview. Thank you for your time Mr. Stark, and hey, Petra, I'm going to make you front page news. I'm so proud of you, little lady." Jason nodded his head, turned on his heal and entered the elevator without another word. Peter wanted to interrupt him, he wanted to say 'My name is Peter now.' But the words couldn't seem to find a way out of his throat. He realized that every muscle in his body was tight and that his eyes were brimming with tears. It had been a while since something like that had happened. Almost long enough for Peter to forget that he wasn't always himself, and that some people refused to except him for him.
