📍WAKANDA

"Parents, Aubrey and Jeffrey Conner; Passed away in the battle of New York and left him orphaned at one," Shuri monologued as she walked along with you through the streets of Wakanda. Shuri ran multiple tests on Aaron's blood sample and gave you a call when there was finally some result.

"How'd his parents die?" you asked, stuffing your hands into the pocket of your jeggings.

"In the Battle of New York. A Chitauri bomb went off and they were blown up," Shuri winced, "They couldn't recover the bodies, but their DNA was all over the place,"

"Oh God," you shut your eyes for a second, grimacing at the revelation.

"I know," she continued, "But also something interesting happened in that massacre."

you frowned at her in curiosity, "Spill,"

"When the bomb went off, it cleared a radius of 1 mile; killing everyone and vaporizing them. Except for one child— Aaron,"

You gave her a look, "That's impossible, Shuri."

"But that's what makes it so interesting," she insisted with an excited look, bouncing from one foot to another.

You both headed back to Shuri's lab; saying hello to Ayo and Okoye on the way.

Shuri made a hologram pop out of her Wakandan bead bracelet. It looked like a fluid containing circular particles in it, "This is the holographic form of Aaron's blood sample. I couldn't find anything for the first few days because his body hid it so well. So, I made it react with certain stimuli,"

You adjusted yourself on your seat, taking in every detail she was saying.

"You see evolution takes place every day," Shuri began, "One out of five people has a slightly different gene, which changes because of our environment. That person with the gene will contribute to the evolution of nature. And my theory is that Aaron has that gene, which helped him survive. When the bomb went off, Its particles passed through his body unaffected. It's like his body realized the danger and prepared itself. It didn't fight or flight; it did something in between,"

"Half of both?" you offered.

"Eh," Shuri waved her hand in an ok-ok gesture, "Sort of,"

She swiped a hologram, making a bunch of files and footage appear in place of the holographic sample of Aaron's blood sample.

"So, he's alien?" you questioned.

Shuri froze, turning to you with an unimpressed look, "And I thought you were smart,"

"I am smart," you gave her an offended look.

"Then act like it,"

"Why would I have to act if—"

"Listen," Shuri interjected, not letting you finish, "If a human goes out there in space, sets a bomb, and one out of ten survives the impact, would you call that creature an alien?"

"Uh," you blinked at her, "No,"

"Exactly," she snapped her fingers, "He survived the radiation emitted from alien technology. He doesn't have alien DNA, genius," she rolled her eyes, "You're speaking as if his mother was conceived by an alien,"

"Ew! Shuri!" You groaned out loud, face contorting in disgust, "You sicko! Why would you put that picture in my head?"

"I had to get it out of my head somehow," she shrugged and then shuddered in disgust.

"So, wait," you frowned and held up a hand, "If he's not an alien, how'd he survive the impact?"

"Now you're getting to the point," Shuri rubbed her hands together, "Something protected him from the impact. I wasn't sure what it was, but I managed to a  get particular footage,"

Shuri played a footage of the Battle of New York where two couples were fighting on a building. They were both Masters of Mystic Arts. On the stroller next to them was a child— Aaron. The couples were in an argument? Heated discussion? you couldn't differentiate. Soon, the baby started to mimic his father's movements when he summoned two orange shields.

Suddenly, a sound wave spread towards them; the couple were thrown back and out of the view of the camera range, and the stroller skidded back until it hit a wall behind. Over the baby's head, was an orange shield, similar to the ones his father had used. So, Aaron ended up protecting himself unintentionally. Mere coincidence.

You leaned back on your chair, processing the information, "Abilities?"

"Intangibility. Phasing," Shuri elaborated when you frowned, "Healing factor, Quick reflexes and agility, Immune to radiation, and invisibility. It's a possibility, I'm still working on it. There might be more,"

"Woah,"

"I know right,"

"Hold on, if he got these powers when he was one year old, how come he hasn't shown it yet?"

"Since he was only one year old, it settled in his basic body design. He might start showing his powers as he grows up, when he starts changing or when he hits puberty. He's thirteen right?" you nodded. "So, maybe, his powers will show up soon. Or maybe even this year."

"Huh," You leaned back on the chair.

"And given his history of foster parents," Shuri pressed her lips into a thin line, "Maybe the trauma he's holding back and suppressing— they may have affected his abilities,"

You nodded in understanding, and crossed your arms, "Makes sense,"

"And also there's one more thing," Shuri swiped the hologram and it disappeared into the table below. She turned around with a large grin, "I have a suit for him,"
