On the way back to the huge palace Xiao got to know (Y/N) a bit more. Apparently she really likes Sakura trees, that's why she wants to go to Inazuma.
When they finally got to the place, (Y/N) sat down at a table, gesturing Xiao to do so too. After they both got comfortable in their places, the goddess spoke up.
"Chingyu, please make us some tea. We might take a while."
"Yes, lady (Y/N)"
Xiao turned his head to the person owning the name "Chingyu". It was a lady wearing a kitsune mask. Maybe she was taking care of the shrine while (Y/N) is out? Who knows, he could always ask.
When Chingyu left, it was only the adeptus and the God left in the room.
"Who's Chingyu?" Asked the adeptus, earning a quick answer.
"My assistant "
He has totally failed on making a conversation with the pretty God. Xiao doesn't usually like communicating, but in this case- he was literally in a Gods domain. What else should he ask? He doesn't wanna go into personal questions yet, like how old sh-
"You look tense. Are you not comfortable?"
"N-no- it's okay- I'm comfortable do not worry, really-"
And..........he stuttered.
"If you say so. Anyways, as I've heard, you've been working under the God of contracts. Rex lapis? Where is he?"
Asked the God, finally trying to converse with the poor adeptus.
"He goes by a mortal name Zhongli now. I do not know his current location now, but he might go to Mt. Hualo from time to time. Why?"
"I have business to discuss with that man, but I can never tell what he's thinking. He has a strange way of thinking, truly an old man."
What was Xiao supposed to say to that. He doesn't enjoy people talking bad about the god of contacts, but then again.... She is a God- and has probably known Zhongli for way longer than he has.
"Lady (Y/N), the tea you have requested for is done."
Chingyu came in.
"Thank you"
Xiao muttered a small thanks before looking back at the God, only to find her looking back at him. He quickly averted his eyes back to his tea. That was awkward.
"Say, adeptus, is there anywhere you'd like to travel?"
"I have a duty to protect liyue. I do not want to travel nor i have any intentions to. "
"Oh? Hasn't your contract ended a few hundred years ago? I don't think that Liyue needs a guardian any much longer."
"So you do care about humans?"
She raised an eyebrow.
"I suppose you have heard what I said back at the Harbour. Humans, such fragile creatures, can't do anything by themselves. Always looking for easier ways to finish their jobs. You helping them wherever they go doesn't change a thing, they just use you. It's unfair isn't it? How hard you work to keep something safe and in return you get nothing. Adeptus Xiao I've seen it all. Caring for people is something Gods do. I have my own reasons for loving the right people."
Xiao doesn't know what to say. She is right, everything she said is completely right. Helping people with everything doesn't achieve anything. They need to learn how to survive and take care of themselves by themselves. After all, if you do everything for another person, the person won't learn anything.
"Drink your tea before it becomes cold."
Added the God.
"(Y/N). As much as it's embarrassing for me to say, I have never heard of the God of chaos and void. Is there some certain history behind your story that people are not supposed to know of?"
"You are a curious one, adeptus. My story isn't anything special though. I'm not an archon, I'm just a simple God that also came from Celestia. Nothing too special."
Weird, so what she's saying is that only archons are known? Xiao hasn't heard of any other Gods other than the archons, (Y/N) being the first one. Does that mean there's more?
"Are there other Gods like you?"
"They're long gone. In the archon war not only humans were getting killed, Gods, Archons, adepti, all immortal beings were, well, losing immortality. The war has killed lots of important beings, that could've changed the world for the better, but the good side has won, which is all that matters. Never the process. It's always the result."
"Which side were you on, (Y/N)?"
Her eyes widened.
"Say, Xiao. Do you think I'm a good person?"
He stayed silent. He doesn't know, he has just met her, how could he possibly answer?
"Maybe, just maybe, in the future I will tell you everything you want to know. Seems like we can't get rid of our fated future now, can we?"
Xiao blushed slightly, what did she mean "fated future"?
Suddenly Xiao feels that someone needs help. Again. He must take his leave.
"I have to go now, thank you for the tea."
"Hurry up then, don't keep the poor soul waiting. Till we meet again, Xiao."
