Eventually their counselor told them to go to the big house. The girls were all still a little giggly when they got there. They played ice breaker games before dinner which they sat at the same table as their cabin which was fun.
"Marsel is an unfortunate name" Catherine comments
"Oh shit yeah" kira says
"Arse" Carci says giggling
"Marsel looks like his great aunt was a starish" Savanna says looking at the unsuspecting kid
"Yeah he does, doesn't he?" Terri says
"A starfish? Did his family tree evolve backwards or forwards really quickly?" carci asling raising a brow
"Both" Savanna says
"Ooh is that even possible?" Kira asks
"It is now" carci says
Catherine looked around a little and noticed two of the counselors talking to each other and looking at their table. She nudged carci who looked at her then what she was looking at. Carci raised a brow'
"What do you think they are saying" She says
"No clue. Could you... " Catherine asks
Carci shakes her head
"I could but there are too many thoughts, it would take a lot of concentration. And it would take a lot out of me if I'm honest. If there were a lot fewer kids having their own separate conversations then i could." Carci said
"What about the-"
"I could give myself a really bad headache. And I wont feel it it would still mke focusing on anything difficult."
Catherine nods
"Probably nothing anyways" Catherine says
"Maybe I still wanna check out that dd cabin" Carci says grinning
"I dunno if thats a good idea" Catherine says
"Oh c'mon can't be thats bad" carci says
Catherine sighs but dosent argue
"Whats not a good idea" Kira asks
"Was this old run down looking cabin i wanna check out" Carci says
"Can i come?" Mallory asks
"Sure"
So that night some time after lights out carci jumped down from the bunk. Catherine gets up and puts a hand on Mallory's shoulder. Mallory did a full body flinch
"Shit. you... are skittish" Carci whispers
"You scared me"
"That was obvious enough" carci says
"Carci, quit flirting!" Carci said while putting on her shoes
Mallory giggled
"Im kidding" catherine says nudging a now peeved Carci
"Meeeh~" carci says sticking their tongue out
"I was" Catherine says
"I was" Carci says mockingly
"I was" Catherine says
Carci repeated it in greek and in a mocking tone
"why dont you go check which direction the cabin's in so we dont go in the wrong direction and get caught or lost" catherine says
"yeah alight" carci says
Mallory came out as carci jumped to the rock in the middle of the stream.
"whoa what is she doing?"
"uh that way" carci says pointing
she jumped down and wiped her hands off on her shorts.
"its in that direction. it doent look like theres really much left of a path to it any more" carci says
"do you have a flashlight?" catherine asks
"joan" carci says
"aw thats right" catherine says
"uhm i can do a thing" Mallory says
carci and catherine glance at each other. "I can do a thing" has a large variety of meanings going from "i can burp on command" to "i can kill you and and no one would even notice" and a couple of other mildly concerning possibilities. but "i can do a thing" while standing in a forest in the middle of the night without a flashlight tends to narrow down the options a fair bit but still leaves a very questionable grey area.
"you can do a thing?" catherine questions
"yes"
"care to elaborate on said thing?" carci says
Mallory held out her hand palm up. out a moment a bunch of rather small golden colored fish swam around the air emitting a gold glow. The fish swam around each other.
"ooh~ aura" carci says
"yeah- wait what? how do you-"
"doesnt really take a genius" catherine says
"small octopie?" carci asks
"i dunno, i think ours only gets bigger. we could just to tentacles though" Catherine says
"aw, but tiny purple glowy octopie that do a floaty" carci says like a small child
"yes that sounds absolutely adorable and all carc but uh, we cant"
"yeah"
"carci" catherine says when they start walking
"yeah?"
"it feel so weird that kids from the party are here you know?" catherine says
"yeah. honestly same. i mean, i know its a small world and we all live in the same city but i was honestly expecting to never see any of them again. and i guess we were basically doomed to run into some of them at some point but they wer at THE party. so i dont exactly have good feeling about it" carci says
