Siblings...

It was no secret that James was protective of Piper, so when he heard that Piper had started dating Finn he was fuming! That was his little sister, her and boys is just weird. No one agreed with him mind, Deborah and Lukas told him to mind his own business and that he was overreacting over it all, The older sisters of the Valentino family, Rosie and Florence just went on about how cute they are together and giving Piper 'advice' which she really didn't want to hear, Riley kinda understood...she mentioned that Emily was the same when they got together but a bit less intense as she had knew James since she was 8years old. He had met Finn a handful of times when him and Piper were best friends and he was nice...but that was before he came the boyfriend...now they are unofficial enemies in James books.

Piper was very unhappy over how overprotective her brother was being since her relationship with Finn started, he seemed so against him...whenever Finn would come over, James would make little side sarcastic comments under his breath and just gave Finn dirty looks which had not gone unnoticed by Piper as well as Finn. Finn didn't understand why James didn't like him, he was always using good manners and being friendly so he couldn't see the issue, he knew James was gonna be protective as it was older brother nature, he was the same with his younger Star but James seemed a bit too protective and it didn't seem good.

James, Riley, West and Eldon were visiting The Next Step to help choreograph the small group for Nationals, the group of dancers included Finn, Heath, Summer, Kenzie and Piper. The group was planned to be a contemporary/hip hop fusion, a change on the pure hip hop piece performed the last time they were at nationals. The four of them entered studio A to find 3 out of the 5dancers waiting for them, who was missing? Well no better than Piper and Finn themselves. James was confused on Pipers lateness, she was always on time, early even? It didn't take longer than 5minutes for laughter to be heard down the hall, Piper and Finn emerging from the doorway smiling and laughing, Finns arm was draped over Pipers shoulder, his hand intertwined with hers and resting on her chest, Piper was being swamped by Finn's hoodie, her favourite one...it was navy blue with his name in big white letters with an orange fuzzy fish on it, it was massive and reached just below her knees but it was warm and comfy and it smelt like Finn which to some may sound weird but to Piper it was a sense of comfort. Their moment of light hearted cheer was brought to an abrupt end by James... "right enough of the lovey dovey crap, you're late! And Piper get that off, you of all people know what appropriate dancewear is! and Finn, hands off my sister please and thank you" James ended his blunt commands with a dirty look directed towards Finn, leaving the dancers all exchanging confused looks, Finn slowly released his grip on Piper's hand, his spirits dampened a tad. Piper was about to speak up against her brother, before Finn pulled her back gently by the wrist, whispering softly to her ear, "it's fine Pipes, it's not worth it" before pressing a quick kiss to her head and taking her (his) jumper from her and placing it on the bench. Let's dance...

For the entirety of the 2hour rehearsal, James kept digging at everything that Piper and Finn did even slightly wrong, sometimes when they weren't being wrong at all, Riley, West and Eldon tried to smooth over his comments but it was no use, there was no buffer. The group had eventually made it through the dance and the choreo was getting there, but it still wasn't Nationals ready...the group told the dancers to come back in an hour for a break...the four alumni sat at the large table in the next steep discussing the dance and West was the one to bring up his bros behaviour...

"Man, why do you have be so harsh to Piper and Finn? Can't you be glad that she's happy?" West asked James who was tapping at his phone across the table from him, "I agree, I mean James... I know she's your little sister but you're being a bit harsh, it's enough now" Riley chimed into the conversation. "Yeah but-" James tried to argue before Eldon interrupted... "but what? I saw them at prom and despite all you said they looked like they were so happy, even when they were just friends" to which Riley and West mumbled in agreement. "But he's always there! Me and Piper did everything together and now he's here which is great for cos she's happy but-" he paused on his point for a moment. "He can be so irritating, they are doing this big fish little fish cardboard box move all the time, and he's always whispering jokes in her ear and she's laughing AND I don't even want to think about if they do the nasty business when I'm not there" James finished his monologue smacking his hands down on the table. A tense silence fell on the group as they all exchanged looks, before a quieter bang on the table was heard...
