I glanced in the mirror, reapplying my lip gloss one last time before I left the house.
I looked good. I looked like myself. Might be slightly underdressed for a date but I loved how I looked.
I was meeting Sylvie and the boys are Molly's, so I made sure I had everything in my bag before I left.
As I walked out to my car, I could see someone stood in the distance, and I stopped, looking at them. They were just lingering, and something felt off. It didn't seem like one of my neighbours, and I jumped into my car quickly, and locked the doors.
I quickly sped off to Molly's, trying to forget about it.
Sylvie waved me over to her booth, and I waved to her, and decided to get myself a drink before joining her.
"The usual please Otis." I say and he nods, before walking off to get a glass.
"Wow, you scrub up well." I hear a voice beside me say.
I turn to see Connor beside me.
"You sound surprised Connor. I guess the same could be said for you." I tell him and he smiles.
"I'm sorry I was an ass earlier. I'd had a hectic day, and I'd like to start over, if that's okay with you?"
I nodded and agreed.
I paid Otis for my drink and we walked over to the booth with Sylvie and Will.
I sit beside Sylvie and place my bag on the table.
"I need a drink after the day I had. Hopefully we'll be on a new route Monday Sylv, if headquarters get back to Boden by then."
"You reported Morgan then?" She asked.
I nod. "I wouldn't want to risk your safety. I didn't even tell you half of what he said earlier. He's too much."
"Who's Morgan?" Connor asks.
"One of our frequent flyers, it was alright at first, only saw him once a week, but now it's every shift. I'm starting to think maybe he's obsessed with us." I say and laugh a little bit.
"I mean, he's nice to me, but he's definitely got a crush on you." Sylvie says and I roll my eyes.
"I genuinely think he's deliberately harming himself so he can call us out. He told me his burn yetserday was from spilling his coffee, but it wasn't the correct markings. If the coffee was that hot, he would have had marks all down his legs."
"True, where'd he burn?" Will asked.
"His groin, real close to his crotch. Convenient, right? And he told us initially his old paramedics got rerouted, and I'm starting to see why." I say and Connor pulls a face.
"Seems like a creep, you should avoid him at all costs." Connor tells me.
"That's the plan. Anyway, enough chat about him, how was your day? Bet the ED was busy."
"Too right. They just kept coming, one after the other. At one point I didn't think we were going to make this date." Will says.
"What was it like working in London?" Connor asked, and I shrugged.
"Had it's ups and downs. No two days were the same, but quality of life for many people just wasn't there. It's hard seeing people struggle. It was insane though for the Olympics. 2012 was a wild year. Best summer ever."
