I Saw Her Standing There

It was particularly sunny this Monday morning, which I thought was quite peculiar due to it being the middle of winter; only last week there was a thick blanket of snow covering the entire city of Liverpool! I searched my wardrobe for a decent enough dress to wear to school, I thought a black and white pinafore dress would be suitable for the days attire. I don't usually make an effort with looking good for school, but that day I made sure my appearance was presentable as it was the first day back after the Christmas holidays (which were terribly tedious).

I peered out my window to see droplets of water on the glass and it occurred to me that it was raining.
So instead of me walking to school as usual, my father offered to drive me in. I was relieved, as this meant I would not look like a drowned rat when I got to school. I also had to impress my friend, Vicky. We love talking about clothes and boys, she is my best friend. We had known each other since we were toddlers, however I only became close to her when I started to attend the Art College.

For the first time in ages  I was actually excited to go to school, it meant I got to see Vicky, I hadn't seen her the entire Christmas holidays as she was visiting family. Before Christmas, school was a drag, I was always tired, surrounded by the same stupid people, not paying attention in class and just dozing off into a nap in almost every lesson. This year I was determined to try and pay attention! In fact, one time in English class, I actually fell asleep on the desk; and a boy named John Lennon drew a cruel picture of me asleep and sent it around class without the teacher realising. Of course I was a laughing stock when I woke up. I really don't like John and all his pathetic little followers... they're always so cruel to people, their humour is so harsh.

When my father had dropped me outside the school gates the rain was still chucking down, so I used my satchel as a shield from the wind and rain until I got under a covered walk-way.

"Lucy! Wait!" I heard a familiar voice call out, it was Paul. Paul is a close friend of mine, his family occasionally invites us to their house for drinks or a meal and vise-versa, he lives a few roads away from me.

I've always felt a strange attraction towards Paul, he has the most peculiar beautiful eyes with the most outstanding eyebrows- but of course no one pays attention to these outstanding facial features apart from myself. Everyone else is drawn to his slicked back hair filled with grease and his thin trousers to match his black leather jacket. Paul was a teddy boy.

I always felt privileged to be his friend, it's unusual for a teddy boy to be friends (and nothing more than friends) with someone like myself, I never thought I was 'cool' enough. I always see the girls check him out or try and flirt with him, he would occasionally take one out on a date yet he never seemed too interested in the opposite gender, I guess he didn't want anything serious. A thing he did seem interested in, was his guitar. He'd just tell me what new songs he had learnt, that's all he really cared about... his guitar.

"Lucy!" Paul puffed as he ran from behind me and grabbed my arm. "Hey! How was Christmas? Do anything fun? Haven't seen you in a while. You look lovely by the way" He panted. I told him about what a boring holiday I had, and he informed me about how his aunties and uncles came to visit and cooked dinner for his father, brother and himself each night. Paul's mother passed away several years ago.

I'd forgotten how great Paul was, he always kept an interesting conversation going and has such a wonderful sense of humour- never offensive like that John fella in my classes. He offered to walk me to first class and to carry my bag, so naturally I accepted his offer; I'm so lucky to have him as a friend!

PAULS P.O.V.

The beauty of Lucy struck me like a lightening bolt through the heart. I saw her standing there and it was tippin' it down with rain and yet she still looked like an angel! Her eyes shone as she turned to look at me, our eye contact made my heart flutter. I've liked Lucy for as long as I can remember, which sucks cus she'd never fancy me. To her, I am like a brother!

When I asked how her holiday was she said it was terrible. I wish I could have invited her over or took her out for coffee... I love her company, she's the sweetest girl I've had the pleasure to have met. Most girls around Liverpool have no self-respect, that's what I like about Lucy, she's different to them. She just happily lives her own life. She's one in a million 'nd I find it extremely attractive I s'pose.

Honestly, I would do anything for that girl.
