The Night Before

LUCY'S POV

It was the morning following the night I'd spent in the car with John and I'd woken up terribly distraught. I was laying on the cold hard mattress in Astrid's house, staring at the eerie photographs hung on her black walls recalling what had happened the night before. Did I regret what had happened? I was unsure. It finally dawned upon me that I had lost my virginity in the back of a car in a place any twisted old man could see. You're meant to save it for someone you love, right? You're meant to do it to resemble your undying rapport and it's meant to mean something. I was not wishing to rewind time to change my actions, I do love John, although I felt as if the timing and place was inappropriate. The reason why I felt so distressed was because I didn't feel as if I did it to show my affection towards John, thinking back about it I seemed to do it out of envy, lust and stupidity. I had not prepared myself, or maybe I had subconsciously; wearing the tight dress, not stopping when John lifted my clothes, I knew what was going to happen yet I still proceeded. I was such an idiot and I felt like a stupid slut- just another whore John had hooked up with. Despite this, I still yearned for another feel of it, I desired John more than ever.

It was early, I could hear the birds sing their morning songs and see the sun creep through the tree canopies. I laid still on the bed, almost paralysed, staring at the black walls until I saw the sun was half way up the sky. I impassively pulled on my clothes and made my way downstairs, still trapped in my void of emotions.

I found myself back in Liverpool much sooner than I had hoped. I stayed at Astrid's house for five nights, and I must admit it felt magnificent to sleep in my own bed again. Although the thing I missed most in the world was John. Within the week I visited him I felt as if I grew as a person, I had discovered myself and recognised my true love for John.

The morning I engulfed myself in regret was soon uplifted. The moment I got to the bottom of the staircase and wandered into the kitchen I was soon reminded of the beautiful wonders of life; John Lennon. There he stood, the love of my life, with a bunch of vibrant daffodils held in his hands, next to a table set for two with a full English breakfast laid out, ready to eat. I remember the morning as clear as day, I could recall every last detail, repeat every word he said. It was perfect, he treated me like a Queen. 'Do you want to know the world's worst kept secret?'  he said, 'I love you Lucy, I love you, yes, yes, yes' he whispered into my ear.

So there I was again; sat at home alone, doing tedious tasks, filling myself with self pity because I was not with John, except this time I was filled with fond memories I was unable to forget. The week I spent with him I treasured in my memories. In Germany, I was a playful little girl again and the mischief that had gone astray whilst John was absent had soon reoccurred. We caused havoc amongst Hamburg and ran wild down the streets, making love sometimes twice a day, living our lives to the max! I loved John and no one could part us, not even the North Sea.

VICKY'S P.O.V

I couldn't stop picturing Stu's eyes, they were so blue they looked as though there was an ocean coexisting inside of them.  I remembered the way he kissed me, softly yet passionately. Every second of everyday since I got back to England I spent picturing the night I arrived in Hamburg, it was magical. We spent a lot of the evening sat in tranquil silence, gazing in each others eyes. The whole week seemed as if it was a dream, a short fantasy. I ached to run my fingers through his hair again, his new hairstyle was tantalising! The slick, grease-filled-do that he had previously was replaced by a new thick mop-top that fell just above his eyes (it was luxury to touch; so fluffy and clean).

I shortly found myself devoted to Stu, I lived for him; he was my everything, he gave me a sense of life. He never gave me flowers or sung me songs, he didn't need to prove his love to me with material, all I needed to hear was 'I adore you, Victoria' and I'd believe him. He was very different to the rest of the band, I appreciated his uniqueness. He'd always tell me that he was a hopeless bassist and he didn't care too much for the music, he kept saying the band never needed him, although I believed they did.

I noticed how Stu influenced the other boys, whilst in Hamburg he was the first one to receive the mop-top, a daring move. I watched how John soon copied Stu's choices, Stu had always been intrigued in other peoples way of living and had picked up a few habits from the German mod's, like wearing blazers and shirts- a trait John soon picked up. Naturally, this led to the rest of the band following John's footsteps and soon they all wore blazers and shirts, accompanied by the mop-top (apart from Pete, he always seemed very distant and stubborn).

Stu was reserved and quiet, quite like myself, his main passion was painting, also one of my most beloved activities. When his parents discovered he was visiting Germany to start a music career in a rock and roll band, they were fuming because they knew he was a natural born artist, Hamburg was a place for prostitutes and whores, not for a young boy. Despite this, Stu still went to Hamburg and dreamt that the band would make it- for the sake of the other boys.

We spent much of our time together at Astrid's house alone, we would paint portraits of each other and dance around her living room in candlelight. Once we had enough of dancing and painting we would simply watch the stars together from a window overlooking the Hamburg street, then make love.

I missed Germany a great deal, it was the best week of my life. I longed to walk down the Reeperbahn one more time, breathe in the smell of the German streets, dance in the candlelight, but I couldn't and I was back in school doing the same dull, repetitive lessons. Before I left, Stu told me to look at the moon each night at 8 o'clock. He told me he would do the same, at exactly the same time; that way we're both looking at the same thing, admiring the same beauty. I missed Germany. I missed Stu. I missed the exciting life I no longer had.
