LUCY'S P.O.V

I found myself connected to John's lips for longer than I imagined, it felt like the most meaningful kiss I've had with him. It was the kiss that confirmed both our affections towards each other, the kiss that said 'it's only you I want'.

But, I had to pull away at some point, despite how much I loved it. I didn't want John leading onto 'other things', he had already laid me down on the couch and had propped himself up above me. When I pulled away, John sighed and tried to pull me back for another kiss, it was very tempting, I could see the lust in his expressions and I really would have done anything in that moment to feel his warm embrace again, but I really did have to stop. I would hate to know what'd happen if mum or dad walked in on us like that!

"Yanno, I think we can work things out." I chuckled. "I really would like to go on a few more dates, and I like the thought of making things official too." I said, sitting up and taking his hand, stroking it. His skin was unbelievably soft.

"Really? That's great, pet! I honestly didn't think ye liked me for a second! I felt like such a fool cus I am really into ye and to be rejected would be 'orrible! Plus I kinda asked Paul if it was okay- if you would think it's okay if I asked ye out. He approved of me, he's a good lad." John said, a wide grin spreading across his face.

"Oh John, I really do like you too." I blushed. "Awh, yes Paul is such a-" I began, but was rudely interrupted by the opening of the front door. "John, quick! Get your stuff, it's getting late, mum can't see us like this! She'd have a heart attack!" I whisper-shouted, chucking John his leather jacket from the coat peg. I led him to the front door as quickly as possible. Mother was already inside, putting her bags of groceries on the kitchen floor.

"Farewell Mrs Henderson, it was lovely meetin' ye and visiting yer very lovely house, I hope I see you some time soon." John said, to my surprise. He picked up my mothers hand and pecked a kiss.

"Oh John, you are sweet. It's late! You'd better get home, it's a pleasure to meet you, will I be seeing you soon?" Mother asked.

"I was planning on picking up yer beautiful daughter at around half past five tomorrow night, I would like her to visit me house. Do not fret, I will not harm a pretty lil' hair on her head, heck I won't even touch her. Oh and me aunts at home too, and Paul'll be there! I'll make sure she is home no later than nine, she's staying for tea too. I'll look after her, I'll see you then Mrs H!" John explained, giving me a wink- knowing I was completely unaware of his plans.

"Oh, Lucy aren't you a lucky lady? See you tomorrow, John. Take good care now." Mother said with a genuine smile on her face.

"Good bye you pair of lovely ladies!" John said, letting himself out, blowing mother and myself a kiss each. John really is a suck up to my mother, which I like, it means she stands a chance of approving my future boyfriend.

The next day was tedious and full of boring lessons back at school. I spent most of my time day-dreaming about John again. It also gave me a chance to speak to Vicky and update her with my John situation, she couldn't believe me when I told her he wanted to make things official. 'John Lennon never makes things official!' she told me.

When I got home I was unbelievably nervous to see John again and to visit his house. Mother helped me pick out a suitable dress to wear and she helped tie my hair back nicely, a huge contrast to the pale mess I was yesterday afternoon! I heard a knock at the door, which could only have been John and I let my father answer, (I knew my father would have to be introduced to John at some point, so I decided that would be a good time to meet).

I heard Dad call my name and summon me to the front door.

And right in front of my eyes, wedged between my insanely lanky father and the crumbling door frame, stood John. He was not sporting his leather jacket today, instead he wore a grey sweater with a shirt and his hair looked much neater. He also wore glasses that I'd only seen him wear during classes, which made him look very intellectual. He looked gorgeous.

When John saw me, I saw his eyes widen and he looked me up and down in awe. He held a singular red rose in his hand.

"Lucy, you look absolutely gorgeous!" he exclaimed, and I saw my father shoot him a scolding look.

I blushed, stepping forward and taking his hand and the red rose. I sniffed the flower and looked at him, it smelt heavenly and it brought a great big smile to my face. He interlocked his fingers with mine and bid a farewell to my father. Surprisingly, dad didn't say much to John, I wondered if mother had told him to take it easy on him.

We strolled down the road, it was a beautiful day, the sky was blue and the sun was out but the January coldness still lingered.

"I meant what I said, you look gorgeous today Luce. As usual. I like it when ye wear yer hair up. Brings out yer eyes more." John told me. I felt my cheeks redden and I looked at the pavement.

"Yer gonna have to show me exactly where Paul lives if ye don't mind. We're gonna pick him up, like. He told me he lived down Forthlin Road but I can't remember which number he said he lived at." John explained, examining the houses we walked past.

"That's fine, it's just up here to the left." We carried on walking and made it to Paul's house. He came to the door, leather jacket on and guitar swung across his back as usual.

"Me lady." Paul said, placing a kiss on the hand I was still holding the rose in. "A rose, eh? Aren't ye spoiled." he said, exchanging a cheeky look to John. "Nice to see yer Lennon. Nice glasses." Paul said, shutting the door and proceeding to walk down the path.

It took us around five minutes to reach John's house from where Paul lived. It was a respectable looking semi-detached house down Menlove Avenue, a fairly decent part of town. John opened the door and let us in.

"Take a seat lady and gentleman! Mimi's out for the night, having tea with a friend a 'ers. We can get some peace 'nd quiet, ay." he told us, signalling towards three comfy seats placed in front of the fireplace.

We all took a seat and John came out with a plate of biscuits and an old, battered looking guitar.

"Didn't even know ye had a guitar!" Paul said, stealing a biscuit from the plate.

"Me mam got it for me a couple a years back, like. I just shoved it under me bed when I decided I couldn't play, I'm glad I didn't end up selling it!"

"Oh, right." Paul said a little awkwardly, at the reference of Johns mother. "Well listen to this, I can probably teach yer it. It's got simple chords, like." Paul sat forward on his chair and started strumming at his guitar. "It's Long Tall Sally, y'know, the Little Richard song."

Paul started playing, I watched his fingers frantically switch strings, it looked so difficult, but Paul made it look so easy. Surprisingly, this was the first time I had ever heard him play guitar and sing! His voice was deep and husky yet melodic and soothing whilst he sung, he was much better than I ever imagined.

I could see John was also in awe, and once Paul had finished, we both clapped and exchanged looks of astonishment.

"Bravo McCartney, that was fucking amazing, and ye played with yer guitar upside down the entire time!" John pointed out.

"Oi, I'm left handed! But thanks." Paul snapped.

After a while of Paul successfully teaching John several chords and the song Long Tall Sally on guitar, John made an interesting proposition.

"Hm, y'know what McCartney, we ain't too shabby at this, are we? Like, with a few more lessons from ye at guitar I'll be playin' as well as yerself! Y'know what we should do, eh? We should form our own band!"
