Abby's POV
"JJ, don't do anything and for the love of God, don't embarrass me," I smile, fixing his hair. His eyebrows furrow. "Now what would I possibly do to embarrass you?" I give him a look. "If I am going to intimidate Rafe, I don't need him laughing at you looking like a dumbass."
"But it's funny when I'm a dumbass," he pouts. "I know, but you can't do it today. Any other day is fine. Just behave today and I'll buy you weed for a month." This seems to entice him. "Deal."
I finish fixing his hair before going into John B's bathroom, changing into a pair of black ripped jeans, a crop top, and a pair of high-heeled combat boots.
As I walk out of the bathroom, I see JJ giving me a look that I don't particularly like. "Are you going to the country club to intimidate him or seduce him?" he questions, his jaw clenched.
I give him a smile. "Don't you have an environment-loving woman to pine over?" He rolls his eyes. "For the fifth time, I don't like her."
"Mhm. That's why you went all the way to Kie's house to pick her up and bring her to Walmart just so she could grab supplies to pick up plastic from the ocean? And why you helped her as well?"
He shoves some ziplocks filled with weed into his backpack. "That was me being nice," he mumbles. "Mhm. Sure," I snicker.
"Let's go," he grumbles, slinging his backpack over his shoulder. He walks out the door as John B walks over to me. "I give him a month before he finally breaks and lets his feelings for her slip," John B mumbles. "I give him two weeks," I counter, slinging my backpack over my shoulder.
I walk out of John B's place and hop onto my bike. The rest of them hop into John B's van. "Sure you don't wanna ride with us?" Kie asks, getting into the van. "And risk getting killed by JJ driving? No thank you," I answer, starting my bike.
"Don't get lost on your way there!" I yell, riding off.
JJ drives behind me in the van, smoking a blunt as he does so. This is why I don't get in the car with you. As we cross the bridge that I nearly died on, I feel bile creep up in my throat. Images of Rafe rubbing his temple and wincing at his wounds fill my mind as well as the way he looked at me. His look was a mixture of blood lust and uncertainty. I could tell the blood lust in his eyes was more dominant.
The ride to the country club takes about an hour. Once I get there, I drive into the drive-through, cutting off two old people driving in before parking my bike. JJ parks the van on the other side of the lot and gets out, nearly tripping over his feet as he does so.
"How much did you smoke?" I snarl, keeping my voice low as I walk towards him. He shrugs his shoulders. "F-four blunts," he hiccups. My eyes widen. How does one person even smoke that much in one fucking hour? "I'm going to stab you with a fork!" I snarl.
I turn around and walk towards the entrance of the country club, Kie catching up with me and walking beside me. "You need me to get in, hun," she smiles, opening one of the double doors. She walks in front of me, introducing herself at the front desk. "Hey, Fallon. My mom wanted me and my friends to meet her for lunch," she smiles, lying through her teeth.
"Oh, of course!" the lady at the desk smiles. "Did you make a reservation or are you just waiting for her?"
"Waiting. She should be here soon. We just got here early," Kie answers. The lady at the desk nods her head. "You guys go right in," she smiles. Kie motions for us to follow her and we do, JJ saluting the lady at the front desk as he follows us.
