Abby's POV
I groan as I pull my phone out of my pocket, my still-healing wrist getting scratched by the fabric of my shirt. I look at it and see JJ's contact on my phone, calling me. I roll my eyes and ignore it, not wanting to speak to him. He had every right to be mad, but he had no right to tell me what he did about my child. Of all people, he should have known that blood doesn't define who you are as a person. That just because you are related to someone bad doesn't make you bad as well.
A few seconds later, my phone rings again and this time, it's Kiara. I decline the call, not wanting to speak to her either.
When my phone rings a third time, I answer because it is John B. "Why the fuck is everyone calling me? If it's because you think I'm dead, I'm not," I sneer into the phone.
"Sarah was kidnapped," he says into the phone, his voice sounding as if he had been crying. I straighten. "Wait what?"
"Rafe," he answers and my heart drops, bile creeping up in my throat at the mention of him. "He kidnapped her. I can't explain it all now, but we need you."
"What the hell can I do? In case you forgot, he used me, fucked me, made me fall in love with him, and got me pregnant all for some cruel joke. I don't exactly think he's going to give a shit about what I have to say."
"That isn't why I'm calling you. You have guns. I saw them in your apartment when I was there. You can fight. You are the only one of us that has any idea how to win against these fuckers. Abby, if you don't come, we will lose Sarah. Forever." Rolling my eyes, I crawl off of the sofa and run into my bedroom. "Where are you?"
"At a shipyard. The big one on figure 8. Abby, you have twenty minutes to get here. That's when they are leaving," he answers. My eyebrows furrow. "Leaving? On what?"
"On a cargo ship," he answers, and my eyes widen. Grabbing as many guns and knives as I can, I run out of my apartment and get on my bike. "I'll be there in 15," I say, hanging up the phone.
I'm doing this for Sarah because she was one of the only ones who understood what I was going through with Rafe. Over the past week, she has even been checking up on me and the baby. She took me to an O.B appointment and everything as if nothing ever happened. I can't just let her get kidnapped by her sociopathic brother.
I drive to the shipyard and once I get there, my heart stops. I realize that I am going to have to face Rafe. The mere thought makes bile creep up in my throat and this time, I can't force it back down. Doubling over, I empty my breakfast onto the dirt road.
"Jesus," a male voice from behind me mutters. Once I finish hurling up my breakfast and probably last night's dinner, I wipe my mouth and pop some gum in it, thanking God that I had gum in my pocket. I turn around and see Pope. "Welcome to pregnancy," I sneer, walking over to him. I walk past him, and he follows me. "You really are pregnant," he says, his voice still surprised. "Ten weeks," I respond.
"I'm sorry about what JJ-" "Don't," I say, cutting him off. "It's not your fault."
"So, what's the plan?" I ask, looking over at him. He points and I follow his finger, seeing John B, Kiara, and JJ with their backs turned. "We don't have one yet."
"What the hell do you mean you don't have a plan?" I ask. JJ, Kiara, and John B all turn around, realizing my presence. JJ laughs dryly and Kiara glares at John B. "What the hell is she doing here?"
"She is the only reason you idiots won't be getting killed by sneaking onto a cargo ship filled with people and guns without a plan," I sneer. She opens her mouth to speak but I cut her off by speaking first. "Don't like it, bitch? Leave. I am here for Sarah. Not you. Stop being so self-absorbed in your own problems for once in your goddamn life and realize that there are other people around you that have bigger problems." I turn to John B. "What do you know?" He points to a large cargo ship called the Coastal Venture. "That's where they are. They are inside the ship and the ship is supposed to set sail like now." My eyes widen. I look around, frantically searching for something that can give me an idea.
