I woke to find my head on Lucy's chest, we were still on the couch and the sun was in my eyes. I got up carefully and went down the hall, I looked in to see Luca was still sleeping. I turned on the coffee pot and grab Luca's file that was sitting on the island, I opened it flicking through the pages.

LUCA JAKE OLIVER

Parents: J .Oliver & unknown

Previous Residences: 8 (any behavioural reasons for removal will be found in section 2.1B)

I turned to that page and seen 3 'behavioural issuses'

1) age 3, removed from the home due to theft.
2) age 5, removed from his house due to reckless behaviour causing harm to himself.
3) age 9, removed from the home due to inability to communicate.

I rolled my eyes and put the file on the fridge, I mixed myself a coffee and make some rolled oats, as I finished my coffee I hear the door in the hall creak open. After another few seconds I heard the bathroom door close, I mixed him some oats and when he came out he looked toward the kitchen. "Good morning sweetheart." I smiled.

"Good morning."

"Good morning Miss Spencer." He said.

"You can call me Dolly honey, do you want apple juice, orange juice or milk?" I asked.

"Um... apple juice."

"Good choice." I smiled going to the fridge. A bang followed by 'fuck!' Came from the living room and we both turned around. I looked over the couch to see Lucy on the floor rubbing her eyes.

"Jes-" "Good morning!" I said over her and she lifted her head looking out at us.

"Ouch... good morning." She mumbled. I couldn't help but laugh and I glanced at Luca who was giggling too.

"You ok?" I asked.

"I'm fine." She said getting up and coming over to us. "I forgot I was on the couch." I laughed again and she walked over to me raising an eyebrow, oh I'm in trouble. "You laughing at me?" She asked ticking me.

"No!" I laughed running away and she came after me, Luca started to laugh at us and I smiled to myself. "Hey, hey, hey! I'll give you food if you stop." I said putting up my hands. She looked at Luca.

"Does that sound like a good deal?" She asked and he thought for a second.

"Um... ya she's a good cook." He nodded taking a spoonful of his food.

"Ok." She took my hand and hugged me. "I love you."

"I love you too." I smiled and I got her food, I did the dishes from last night as Lucy and Luca talked. I loved seeing her interact with him, it was adorable.

"So your social worker will be here around ten o'clock ok?" He nodded and sighed.

"You ok?" I asked wiping my hands.

"Ya." He nodded again. "I'm sorry about your thingy." He said pointing behind him where the vase use to be.

"It's ok honey, as long as you are not hurt it's ok. Do you wanna know what my brother did when he was your age."

"What?" He asked.

"Well, one night he went to go in the kitchen and he didn't turn on a light. And he tripped up in his own feet and landed on the glass coffee table and it broke into a million pieces."

"Really? Did your mom and dad get mad?" He asked. Um...

"Well, my mom had to take him to the ER and he had to get six stitches. So she didn't have time to be mad." Until the next morning.

"Wow." He mumbled. "I had stitches once." He pulled his PJ pant leg up over his leg and pointed to a big scar on his knee.

"What happened?" I asked.

"I don't remember. I was little. I was scared though, it was the first night I stayed away from my mom."

"That must have been scary."

"But it's ok." He nodded. "She didn't like me anyway so now I live with other people until they don't like me either." A knock on the door make me jump, Lucy got up going to it.

"I don't believe anyone doesn't like you, your amazing." He smiled then shrugged lightly.

"Good morning Luca!" Chris said coming in way too enthusiastic.

"Morning." He said finishing his apple juice, he got up grabbing his dishes but I took them from him.

"It's ok honey, you go get dressed and I'll take care of the dishes."

"Thank you for the food." He said.

"Of course." I smiled and he walked away, I instantly looked at Lucy. My heart felt like it was in a million pieces.

"So, how is he doing? Any issues yet?" Chris asked.

"He's amazing," Lucy said. "Honesty, he's as good as gold."

"Give him time to warm up. Eight homes in like seven or something like that, years aren't good." He shook his head, I walked to the hallway to keep from saying something I'd regret.

"Dolly," Luca said poking his head out from behind his door.

"Yes?" I smiled.

"Can I have your help?" I nodded and followed him to his dresser.

"Is the hole in this shirt too big?" he asked pointing to a small hole in the armpit of his shirt. I looked through his small piles of shirts and found once that acutely fitted him and was hole and stain-free, he finished getting dressed and we walked to the living room.

"Hey," Lucy said as he walked to the door.

"Ya?"

"Why don't we pick you up from you this evening and go-to target."

"If you want." He nodded, once he left I looked at Lucy who sighed and held open her arms for me.
