Lucy walked into the house visibly annoyed. "Hey- you ok?"

"We need to talk." My mind started to race, what'd I do wrong?

"Why... what'd I do?" I asked following her to her office.

"Nothing kitten, but come here." I followed her and sat at her desk.

"I called Chris to ask him a question and... he told me that they are moving Luca to another foster famil-"

"What?!" I stood up. "They can't just take him, why? Where are they putting him?"

"A family on the same street as him mother-"

"Lucy."

"I know Dolly, I know."

"That's not fair."

"But kitten, that's fostering."

"She's an idiot!"

"Dolly, calm down. There's nothing we can do, this is fostering." I rolled my eyes and she sighed hugging me tightly.

"How's Luca gonna feel about that?"

"I don't know Kitten. I'm sorry." She kissed my head and I sat back down.

"I can't believe she gets to throw him away and then gets him back. Just because she gave birth to him." I pulled my knees to my chest and rested my forehead on them.

"I know Kitten, trust me. It makes me angry too."

"We've only had him four weeks... what happens if we get a kid for a long time and then they got adopted."

"I know Kitten." She mumbled leaning down and kissing me. "Listen... let's just... talk about it later. When Luca gets home from school we need to tell him. It'll be ok baby." She ran her thumb across my cheek and I realized I was crying.

"I'm gonna miss him."

"Me too." She kissed my head and left the room as her phone rang. "Hello?"

I sighed and got up pacing the floor, I ran my hand through my hair and went to the kitchen to get coffee. Lucy was just hanging up her phone, she took my hand in hers and kissed it. "I don't want him to think we're giving up on him."

"He'll understand Dolly. He told Chris he wouldn't mind seeing his mother more." I nodded and let out a breath.

"You have to leave to pick him up in fifteen minutes so I'm going to start supper."

"No kitten, let's eat out today ok?" She kissed my lips lightly. "Go get dressed." I went upstairs and changed into gray sweatpants and a tank top, I wasn't in the mood to be fancy. "You look gorgeous kitten." Lucy said kissing my head. I smiled up at her and she wrapped her arms around my waist kissing my neck. "Let's go." She took my hand in hers and we went to her car.

"How was school?" I asked as Luca got in the car.

"Good. I got a 98 on my math."

"Good job buddy!" Lucy smiled.

"Thanks." He smiled back at her. "A girl at school told me she liked me."

"Oh." I raised an eyebrow.

"Yeah. I told her I can't have a girlfriend right now, I have too many books to read." I smiled.

"Smart boy, girls are nothing but trouble," I said and Lucy raised an eyebrow at me, Luca noticed and started to giggle.

"Her mom and dad don't live together anymore."

"No?" I asked.

"Nope, he hit her mom and then took her and tried to run away but the cops got him."

"Oh, wow."

"Yeah, so now he's in jail and her mom is now with a new guy. It's her dad's brother. My teacher gave me a new book today for doing so good in class." I raised an eyebrow and held in a laugh. I love kids telling stories.

"That's good honey, I'm so proud of you." He got distracted looking out the window and no one really spoke until we got to the all-vegan restaurant.

"An all-vegan place?" I asked Lucy.

"Well, I mean you and Luca are two against one. I lose." She smiled and he laughed. "Let go eat." We went in and ordered, as our drinks came Lucy laid her hand on my thigh.

"So, Chris called us." I said and Luca looked up at me.

"And he... wanted to let us know that you and your mom are doing really good." Luca nodded chewing on his straw. "And there... is a new family a couple of houses down who is... going to be taking you until your mom can have you full time."

"I'm moving?" He asked.

"Yeah, I'm sorry honey."

"It's ok... I'm going to miss you guys." He mumbled after a few seconds.

"We're going to miss you to honey, so much..."

"When am I leaving?"

"When we go home this evening we're going to start packing and tomorrow you'll stay home from school, Chris will come to get you around dinner time."

"Oh." He mumbled quietly. "Who are they?"

"It's a woman and man, they have one other kid. A little boy, he's five."

"Oh, ok." He was quiet for a minute. "I'm gonna miss you two so much."

"I know you've only been here for a month but we love you so much and we will never forget you."

"I love yous so much too." He mumbled.
